Dave Bautista Talks GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2; Says Drax Will Be "A Lot More Badass"

While promoting his newest film, Spectre, in Mexico City, Dave Bautista took the time to talk about the upcoming GOTG sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He first revealed how he didn't know much about the movie's script, but due to his conversations with James Gunn, he reckons his character Drax the Destroyer will be more of a badass!

"I haven’t read the script, and I’m being completely honest when I say that, but I think, having talked to James [Gunn] about the film, I know he’s… I hate to give any spoilers, but I know he’s really going to focus on Drax being a badass. Bautista said to Cinema Blend. "He’s still not really going to get metaphors, even though he thinks he does, but he’ll still be that very literal Drax, but I think you’re going to see a lot more badass Drax."

Later in the interview, he commented on the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward, and if he knows anything about where his character will stand in the future. "As far as the storyline as a whole, I honestly don’t know, and if I did know obviously I wouldn’t tell you, but I hope they’ll continue on with that path." He then stated that he'd love to see the Avengers & the Guardians of the Galaxy onscreen together. "I hope that it will tie in with The Avengers somewhere down the road. I’ve only heard rumors, but I’m being honest, and I’ve been honest in the past, I hope that it ends up there because I would love to go there." I'm sure everyone would love to do so as well!

What do you think about the actor's latest thoughts? Sound off below in the comment section!

I welcome badass characters. GOTG 2 still remains as one of my most anticipated upcoming films.

I was under the impression Drax understood metaphors in the first movie by the time Starlord gave his speech about "giving a shit".

"Finger to the throat means death"

I hope Drax does some more badass victory speeches.

give him a power boost, make us think hes dead on some abandoned planet then after credits he's found by the mentor and khronos and he gets his powers to kill thanos.

It seems like everyone is nerfed in the MCU. I'm convinced Spider-Man from SM 2 would take down the Avengers one by one.

Ramiel - He'll most likely be able to take down Cap, Hawkeye and Black Widow (most likely all at once). But Hulk, Iron Man,Thor and Vision? Please. Not so sure about Scarlet Witch though.

Hopefully. As much as I liked the movie, there were a lot of things I was dissapointed with. One of those things were the action sequences, but mostly the combat. Sure, there were a lot of fun and visually aesthetic moments - such as the battle of Xandar for example, however, I felt some of the action scenes, particulrly the combat scenes, were rather lacking - especially the Drax and Gamora stuff, I won't speak on Ronan however. It's best to leave that for another day...

So yeah, hopefully they present us with Guardians that are a lot more badass, and somewhat more akin to their comic-book counterparts, hopefully. Gunn, you better bring some serious pizzazz and flair to these characters for this next instalment.

Looking at the recent animated series - the shorts to be precise - which explore the Guardians' origins, (I don't plan on watching the whole series)I felt that these shorts have done a better job at handling the characters than the film. And no, I don't mean it in a DRASTIC manner, I just think that they could've presented us with a little bit of backstory for ALL of these character in the film. Obviously Marvel does not like to produce long films, but hopefully that changes with Phase 3 and hopefully they take mmore chances and give us more wholesome features; hopefully we're presented with some backstory for GOTG Vol. 2.

"Spider-man wasn't exactly badass in the first one. More just for laughs. actually, the whole movie was pretty much just for laughs" - Jollem talking about Not So Amazing Spider-man 2.

Would like to see this. Was hoping we would have him at mid-level Hulk strength in the first movie. Sadly he was nerfed and couldn't even take on Ronan.

I really like this news, only thing I didn't like was the minimal screentime of Ronan and Nebula, and the very underwhelming melee action beats.
