After some decade old Tweets resurfaced featuring offensive content, James Gunn was fired as the director of
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In the interim, he ended up being hired by Warner Bros. to take the helm of
The Suicide Squad before signing a deal to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe once he's finished working on that sequel.
Now, Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) has weighed in and explains why he thinks Disney made the right call.
"I was so thrilled, so excited. I think it’s the right move, I really stand behind it," the actor said during a recent interview. "I’m really proud of Disney for hiring James back and ultimately thrilled for not only us, but also for the fans. I think it’s going to wrap up the trilogy in the best way. And Guardians of the Galaxy are really all about second chances and giving people an opportunity to be their best. We’re a ragtag squad of people coming together and having each other’s back. I think it really worked out the way it was supposed to, and I feel good about it."
Pratt has supported Gunn from the start and was among those who signed an open letter making that clear.
It's been said from the start that
Vol. 3 will wrap up the trilogy and leave the team in a very different place. For now, though, most fans are curious as to what will become of them after
Avengers: Endgame!
