GOTG Vol. 3: Fans Are Very Concerned About Rocket Raccoon After Emotional First Trailer

James Gunn wouldn't kill-off Rocket... would he? The first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was released earlier tonight, and things are not looking good for our surly raccoon pal...

"We’ll all fly away together, one last time… into the forever, and beautiful sky."

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The first teaser trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was released earlier today, and it's fair to say director James Gunn wasn't exaggerating when he noted that the threequel "has a lot of heaviness in it.”

Though the trademark GOTG humor is also highlighted, the final few shots hint at some pretty emotional moments, and fans are particularly concerned that Rocket may not make it out of the movie alive.

There's no denying that the teaser makes it look like the surly raccoon-like alien is going to meet his maker (and we're not talking about The High Evolutionary), but then, several other characters also appear to be in pretty rough shape!

We see Nebula carrying a lifeless Peter Quill, Drax being supported by his fellow Guardians after suffering a blaster shot to the chest, and Nebula taking a sound beating (possibly from Adam Warlock).

Then, we have those shots of Quill and Mantis wailing in anguish as someone lies hooked-up to tubes below.

Of course, trailers are notorious for misdirection, and this one seems to have been edited with the specific intention of keeping fans guessing about which character(s) we're going to lose. Hey, it's always possible Gunn will allow everyone to walk away in one piece, but based on the filmmaker's previous comments, we'd say at least one member of the crew is toast!

What do you guys think? Is Rocket in for his last hurrah, or will someone else bite the dust? Have another look at the trailer, and drop us a comment down below.

In Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

James Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter and Maria Bakalova.

Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.
