First HELLBOY Trailer Officially Released Online And It's Full Of Cheesy Jokes And CGI Baddies

Well, Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy this ain't! Ahead of its official release tomorrow, the first trailer for the reboot has arrived and it seems to be borrowing a lot from movies like Deadpool and R.I.P.D.

The first trailer for Hellboy was supposed to be released tomorrow but it's leaked online today and while it's only in 480p quality, you'll get a good idea of what to expect after watching this.

There's an awful lot of cheesy humour on display for starters and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, this goofy tone feels both quite similar and different to what Guillermo del Toro brought to the table in his two movies. There are also a lot of CGI villains, most of which don't look great - but it's important to note that there's plenty of time for the FX to be finished and refined.

The biggest take away here is that it doesn't look a whole lot like the comic books!

Regardless, this is clearly going to be a CGI-heavy adventure for Hellboy and David Habour seems to be giving it his all (I'm not sure the same could be said for some of the other actors here).

That's just my take, though, and it's too early to say whether or not this will be a hit or complete disaster. What do you guys think? Check out the trailer before it's taken down and share your thoughts in the comments section below.

UPDATE: It's now been released officially!

I think I would get used to it over the course of a film, but David Harbour's face and delivery are a little offputting in a way that Perlman just wasn't. Maybe it fits the movie better, but when Perlman is covered in silicone, you just immediately love the guy.

The tone feels like diet Matthew Vaughn stuff. Very kitschy. And the makeup is somehow WORSE than what was done 15 YEARS ago by GDT and his crew.

You are missed...

Nah, I'll wait one more day for the non-480p version.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - You think the dialog and scenes will be different at 720p?

It’s crazy how modern effects and modern makeup look worse then what Del Toro was able to pull off 15 years ago. Mind boggling....

@AnthonyVonGeek - Insane. Total misfire with that makeup. It's amazing that del Toro wasn't allowed to make his third film, and now this new one doesn't look a whole lot different, visually.
