It looks like that Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Sunshine) is set to return for a next sequel in 28 Days Later series. He directed the first film, but he served only as a producer on it's sequel, 28 Weeks Later. Now, according to Dread Central, the director is planning to return for a third chapter.

From Dread Central:

Dread Central has learned exclusively that the director of the original film, Danny Boyle, is planning to return to direct the as of yet untitled third film in the franchise. Details are scant at the moment, but we're working to get some more for you.

There is also an update on the site, where Danny Boyle himself expressed his interest to direct the third movie:

"There's another 28 Days Later in the works." When asked if the title would be 28 Months Later, Boyle replied "In theory, yes."

On will he be a producer, Boyle said "Actually I want to direct it."

Wolvie: I loved the first two movies, they were very unique and entertaining. I only hope that this news is true. What are your thoughts regarding the third film in the franchise?

28 weeks later was good, but crap compared to the first one, so bringing him back would be smart.

28 Days Later = Awesome
28 Weeks Later = Bull Crap

Not sure how I feel about another sequel, unless they tighten up the story as opposed to making it absolutely ridiculous. Am I to believe that after being told their is still rabid zombie dogs and rats and such running around able to give you the zombie virus yet these two punk kids want to risk that to get a photograph of their mom? Yeah...I don't think so.

The franchise can't take another kick in the pooper. Bring him back or this will probably remain in the gutter.

They were not zombies, they were people infected with a rage virus. The infected didnt die then become mindless monsters. They became mindless monsters immediately after being infected. Quite different than zombies.

I read an interview with Danny Boyle a couple of years ago where he said he will be directing the third installment, and the only reqason he didn't direct 28 Weeks Later was because he was directing Sunshine.
VERY old news this.

Oh yeah, "...Weeks..." was naff.
