Warner Bros. and director Mike Flanagan's adaptation of Stephen King's Doctor Sleep has cast young up-and-comer Kyliegh Curran in the key role of Abra "Abby" Rafaella Stone, who is the granddaughter of Jack Torrance and niece of Danny Torrance.

In King's novel, Abra becomes the the main target of Rose the Hat and the True Knot because of her powerful psychic abilities.

Curran, who reportedly beat 800 other contenders for the part, garnered acclaim on Broadway playing the young Nala in The Lion King. She also starred in the independent film I Can I Will I Did.

Doctor Sleep stars Ewan McGregor as Danny Torrance, and Rebecca Ferguson as Rose The Hat. The follow-up to The Shining is set to hit theatres in January of 2020.
