Fright Night: Director Craig Gillespie & Actor Colin Farrell Speak

In an article about this summer's remake of Fright Night, NDTV.com has spoken to director Craig Gillespie and star Colin Farrell, who plays vampire Jerry Dandridge. The impression one gets is that this will be about as far-removed from the Twilight wave of vampire films as you can get.

"Colin Farrell was the perfect choice to play a charming vampire in Fright Night because he has a dangerous quality about him," said Gillespie. "We were so lucky to get Colin. It was perfect. He epitomises the character in Fright Night. There's a dangerous quality to him and he's very charismatic. He's a very dark version of what's been in the vampire realm these days."

As for Farrell himself, the actor notes, "Twilight takes a lot of oxygen in a certain audience's requirement. It has its place which is great, but this is different. I believe it's going to be fairly bloody. There's not a lot of sex but sex is certainly implied more than once. Hopefully it will work on a plethora of levels."

Amazing. First time that I'm "first".

Hope they haven't screwed this up. I've been a huge fan of the original since before I even got to see it. Saw the J. Geil's Band video of the main song "Fright Night" on MTV and I was hooked! I've got high hopes for this remake, Colin seems to be a perfect choice for Dandridge and McLovin is also inspired casting for Evil Ed.

And, of course this is SUPPOSED to be "as far-removed" from Twilight as you can get. The only things the two films have in common is the vampire theme. That's it. That shouldn't have even been a concern in the first place.

The original 'Fright Night' is awesome. I truly hope this one is great. Personally, I'm not holding my breath for Colin Farrell's performance, but he might be really good. Can't wait for Christopher-Mintz though. I'm convinced he's a good actor ever since 'Kick Ass'

Never saw the original but I like Yelchin and Christoper-Mintz, so I'm definitely watching this one.

Thank got we are starting to get back to real vampires. I am sick to death of the forever teens complete with forever teen angst over being immortal. If you don't like being a vampire, go meet the sun!
