The original Halloween ended with Michael Myers being gunned down before falling from a balcony. However, when Dr. Sam Loomis and Laurie Strode went to make sure he was dead, the villain was nowhere to be seen. The reboot/sequel which is now in theaters has a similar sort of ending but this time it's Laure who ends up being thrown to the ground before doing a vanishing act.
Well, in the movie, we learn that's a ruse to just trap Myers in the house and the movie wraps up with him seemingly trapped in the basement as the house burns down around him. As a result, it appears as if he's finally killed off but with talk of a sequel, it shouldn't surprise you to learn that there's a teaser for what comes next at the end of the credits.
While we don't get an actual after-credits scene, stick around long enough and you'll be rewarded with the noise of Michael's laboured breathing, a sign that he survived the inferno and will no doubt be looking for revenge.
This echoes what happened in the first instalment and what will be really interesting is seeing whether or not the Strode family will take centre stage in the sequel or if the iconic horror movie character moves on to take aim at a totally different target. Regardless, with box office projections looking extremely good for Halloween, a follow-up happening now seems inevitable.
