Jason Clarke In Talks To Play The Lead In Paramount's Re-Adaptation Of Stephen King's PET SEMATARY

Dawn of the Planet of The Apes and Terminator Genisys actor Jason Clarke is in negotiations to play the lead role in the upcoming re-adaptation of Stephen King's terrifying novel, Pet Sematary...

Paramount's new take on Stephen King's Pet Sematary is moving forward with Starry Eyes directors Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch at the helm, and now THR reports that the horror adaptation may have found its lead.

According to the trade, Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of The Apes, Lawless, Terminator Genisys) is in talks to play Doctor Louis Creed, whose infant son Gage is mowed down by a truck soon after his family relocates to the small town of Ludlow. Mad with grief, Creed decides to bury the boy in an ancient Native American cemetery (that's never a good idea) in the hopes of resurrecting him.

Gage does come back, but he takes something with him.

The novel was previously adapted by Paramount as a 1989 feature, but despite a few creepy moments, it never really managed to capture the terrifying tone of the book. Let's hope this new version does a better job.

@Nicklander - I agree. I loved him in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and in Everest.

@Demo2nd - I thought he was bland and boring as hell in DAWN. I liked him WAY more in TERMINATOR GENIYSYS (a movie I really didn't like at all) as he, along with Arnold, were by far the highlights of the film.

@BootyPeep - Blame the “It” movies success I reckon. Definitely not “The Dark Tower”

Sorry for all the quotation marks as well.

@ChangAlang - No need to be sorry for the quotation marks.

Well, "It" was surprisingly a remake that surpassed the original by far!
It was a great horror movie and much better adaption of King's novel.
But yes, "IT" is really to blame. Let's hope this remake will turn out to be good, too.

@BootyPeep - yeah is it really needed?Ffs

@Solarkalel85 - Was the original really needed? I mean the story already exists in book form. Why make it into a film? For that matter, was the film adaptation of Casablanca really needed? It was already a play. Did we really need a film. Plus all thousands of comics and manga out there, do we really need the film and anime adaptations?

What does it really matter if any of it's needed or not? When it comes to film, or any form of art, none of it's needed. It makes life more enjoyable, but in terms of what's needed in life, to make sure you life to a ripe old age, it's not needed. Necessity is not the reason for art’s existence. It's all in the motivations of the artist.

You're not the artist or the one commissioning the art. It's not like it's your money going to the remake. Why does it matter? If you think it's not needed, you don't have to watch it, so it doesn't matter whether or not it sucks or if it's even made. If it's as good, or better than the original, then necessity really doesn't matter, because you have two good to great adaptations of Pet Cemetery. My point is, no film is needed, but how does it hurt anyone if they're made? I don't think it does.

@SisterSunday52 - artist?that has to be a joke.my point is they dont need to reboot a film thats fine the way it is.it shows a lack of originality nowadays thats getting to be a bit sickening nowadays.you went off on a bit if an unnecessary rant there.im talking about a perfectly fine adaption of a book being remade again.not a book being adapted for the first time.you were right in saying the original film wasnt needed but that has no bearing on my argument.your also right in saying i dont have to watch nor will i but i will still make a comment about it if i feel the need.

I’m sure I remember Stephen King doing cameos in his movies. He played the Minister in the original and I’m positive he was in his other films too.
