So, last night at midnight, I finally saw Paranormal Activity 2 and while I wasn't a fan of the 1st one, the sequel managed to stay true to the tone of the 1st film and like the 1st one, it did scare me.
The story is that after experiencing what they think are a series of "break-ins", a family (Katies sister's family) sets up security cameras around their home, only to realize that the events unfolding before them are more sinister than they seem.
The acting is a huge improvement over the first film, with the actors actually making the crisis in their house believable and the story keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. The movie does tend to borrow some elements from the first film but as long as it scares you, then the film does its job. The ending is a bit anti-climactic like the first film's was but it leaves open the story for a possible third installment. Overall, if you're looking for a good Halloween scare, then go see this movie.
8/10
