MTV has just ordered a full season for their long in development horror adaptation, Scream, which is of course based on the 1996 horror film of the same name.

The season consist of a 10-episode order intended for an October 2015 release. As previously stated, it will air on MTV with Dimension TV co-producing. In what is sure to be refreshing to some and mind-boggling to others, previous reports suggest that we shouldn't expect to see the Ghostface killer immediately in the show but we will see him later in the season.

The show's cast of characters are, like in the original trilogy, high school students and include a shy, yet popular girl named Emma (played by actress Willa Fitzgerald), artsy loner Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus), computer
geek Noah (John Karna), all-American athlete Will (Connor Weil), ferocious socialite Brooke (Carlson Young), and mysterious new kid Kieran (Amadeus Serafini). The show also stars Joel Gretsch as Sheriff Clark Hudson (Kieran’s father) and Tracy Middendorf as Maggie.

The pilot will be written by Jay Beattie and Dan Dworken (Criminal Minds), directed by Jamie Travis (Faking It), and the show will be run by Jill Blotevogel (Ravenswood). Wes Craven, director of all four of the films that this show is based on, will be an executive producer.

As always, sound your opinions off in the comments section below, especially if you're a Scream fan.

Unlike a lot of other horror franchises, Scream could actually work really well as a series. It'll be interesting to see where they take this show, I think the type of storytelling that the Scream movies use could actually work with the television format. While I'm not overly hyped for this show, I am interested in it and looking forward to it.

wtf? at least Wes is involved in some manner...should've got Kevin Williamson to write it tho. How will this tie into the movies? If they really wanted to make a show based on the Scream movies, I prob would have had it take place sometime after the last film and have it involve and cult of some sort or whatever that is obsessed with the stab movies or even the real life events. Ugh, idk what to think, I love SCREAM, but I also love Silence of the Lambs and Psycho, but hate to shows of those.
