The CW Announces Return Date Of SUPERNATURAL

Supernatural is entering its ninth year on television, and the CW has now announced the date that the show - which stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki - will return to the network this Fall. Hit the jump to find out it returns!

Earlier today it was revealed that Arrow would be back for its second season on Wednesday, October 9th. While the bulk of the CW's lineup kicks off on the 7th of that month, they're saving Supernatural and new series The Originals for the following Tuesday. The reason for this is to presumably avoid the latter having to square off against the premiere of ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Regardless, Supernatural - which has gained a dedicated fan following over the years despite not being the CW's biggest ratings draw - will be back at 9pm on Tuesday, October 15th. What are you most looking forward to in the new season of the show?

Great series, glad it's returning! I hope they have just as much action.

I was really happy with how last season turned out. It's gone back to its roots with the Biblical mythology and I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Needs to be more grittier.

Think they could revitalize the show if they were in another country where most of the monsters came from anyways.

wait, season 9, will be running into 2014.. didn't Sam/Lucifer say "no matter what you do, we will always end up here.. see you in five years Dean".

(Spoilers if you haven't seen the season 8 finale, so don't complain please.)

He also told Dean that he knew he'd never stop fighting (Dean was supposed to live the 'apple pie life' with Lisa but didn't), he wouldn't say Yes to Michael and finally that he wouldn't kill Sam (this could be an obvious reference to him not killing Sam thus stopping Lucifer from entering his vessel, but it could be a really clever hint at the season 8 finale with him stopping Sam from closing the gates and killing himself, this could be cleverly used) not to mention all the fallen angels now on earth are much akin to Lucifer, so they might demand he return and Lucifer could take charge of the army of fallen angels (wishful thinking but that would be awesome.)

Not to mention Cas is human; like he was in the dystopian future. Really hope season 9 is as good as season 8 or season 5, love the show but can't see the CW keeping it around for too much longer.

Excellent show, last season was a real improvement from seasons 6 and 7. I think that bringing back Michael and Lucifer for season 9 would be awesome, but I want Gabriel too. Maybe find a way to bring him back with the angel tablet.

This is honestly one of the best shows on TV. There were a few seasons when it hit its stride when each episode and mind-blowing and flawless. I'm glad it's on during the week and not on Fridays now. THANK GOODNESS there will be good shows on during the middle of the week!

@ComicFan523- It's been annoying me that they left Adam to rot in the cage with Michael and Lucifer. If that goes unresolved for yet another season...

Astonishing series. It has been my favorite for he past eight years and will continue to be for as long as I exist. And the naysayers said it wouldn't last. Screw them.

I watched seasons 1-5 with a friend last year, and while I really liked it I didn't quite see the point in going on from there. I still have season 6 around somewhere, but never started to watch it. Might do it someday, though...

Anyways, I'm really impressed this show is going for as long as it is - kudos to the Winchester Bros. and their dedicated fanbase! :D

It hasn't been the same since Kripke left. The season after he left was completely unguided and lacklustre, but I think they got at least some of the mojo back in the last two. I'll stick around for the next season, but there's not much gas left in the tank.

I won't be surprised if we see God in this one.

I wasn't very impressed with season 6 and 7 but season 8 introduced some interesting new elements and brought us back to the fall out of averting the apocalypse. With a few tweaks I feel like this could have been season 6 and so much the better.
