We've seen the above image in trailers, screencaps and interviews before, but Marvel has a new image that gives up a better look at all four armors displayed in Tony Stark's Lab:

The image shows a reassembled Mark I, Mark II, battle-damaged Mark III and new Mark IV armors. It is a movie variant cover that will be used in the upcoming comic Iron Man: Legacy #1; available in stores April 7, 2010.

HOT DIGGITY DAMN!!!! That looks cool :)) Where's the triangle light one(which i can't remember the name cause i don't read Ironman comics)?!?!?!

The shoulder pieces of Mark3 made it look more imposing, don't ya think? But for agility improvement, i can see why they slimmed down.

Multi- Good point LOL ;)

But my son's five and wouldn't know the difference. At what age do most young comicbookers know this "difference"???

Gtrman- Yeah, i'd love to know what one does more than the other. And is the "extremis" armor the Mark6??? Isn't that the one that's suposed to have AI or somethin? They can't fit that in the second film, they'd have to leave it as a cliffhanger for the third... right?

Cool stuff Multi

I wonder if the armor is windows based and has to constantly get upgrades, patches and debugged for viruses? ;D

Dogs- It's gotta be Mac LOL ;P

Multi- Cool!!! Your son rocks :))

The ONLY thing i really REALLY like from all the new upgraded armors is the fact that they all keep the same face plate!!! GODDAMN Ironman got a hold of a lot of ugly ones in his past. There was only one or two that i really liked out of the whole bunch in the comics(that i parused and didn't read lol).

hmmm.... Do you think that last pic of Iron-Man an what looks like War Machine at the Satrk expo could be the scene of the final battle or somthing?? :-) jus speculating.hehe

I still don't understand how they got to a Mark IV, with only three costumes. I always assumed the finished product was used for 60% of the movie. Before that was just his Mark I. The silver one between they're Mark I and III is really just an unpainted Mark II.

This is what I see the costume progression as:

Mark I: Original made in desert
Mark II: Used to fight Iron Monger
Mark III: Newer more sleeker look
Mark IV: Triangle Arc Reactor

They're costume progression just doesn't make sense. I've looked at their silver Mark II and their Mark III and aside from slight shading/texture differences that the paint job creates they are exactly the same. I dunno, I just don't see it.

why would he have the mark I. it was blown up in the 1st movie, so why recreate it when he obviously moved to the next level right away. wierd
Scion
Scion - 3/4/2010, 9:57 AM
@Elle: I'm pretty sure they start the film off at the Stark Expo. At least that's what I think was said by the Ironette cheerleader that was interviewed a couple weeks back. If so that means we get introduced to War Machine ASAP which isn't a bad thing.

@Dogs

Why do you think the helmet's eyes glow a bluish light? Cause he's always looking at the blue screen of death.

what? Iron Man 2 is coming? I missed Iron Man 1?
Shaman
Shaman - 3/4/2010, 10:00 AM
Superdog- Nostalgia... ?

Sigmax- Nah, Ironman 1 isn't even out yet. This is just spitballing for the second chapter before hand.
Scion
Scion - 3/4/2010, 10:00 AM
@Superdog: And why have their arc reactors running? Like down the line when he has a Mark X, he's going to wanna go old school and use his old Mark I. lol

Waste of energy if you ask me lol
Shaman
Shaman - 3/4/2010, 10:06 AM
Scion- "Waste of energy" is as expensive as a fart to Tony. Plus the arch reactor is in his chest isn't it? I mean, what shows in the armors are just a bluish light.
Scion
Scion - 3/4/2010, 10:10 AM
Point taken! Appreciated ;)

The Mark I is still my favorite!
Shaman
Shaman - 3/4/2010, 10:49 AM
Scion- LOL, No problem bud ;)

Nicholsy- OH YEAH!!! I had forgotten about the "collapsable suit"!!! That really explains it all actually. So yeah, it fits now. So i guess he ends the film in his brand new "Mark VI Extremis" armor and leaves the cliffhanger of it getting... "smart". Which is pretty cool. So the third chapter will be Tony dealing with the "demon in a bottle" line as well as the Extremis armor. Will Mandarin even fit, i'm wonderin'?

jjmeylar - 3/4/2010, 10:55 AM
I figured that the Mark IV was the armor he used at the end of the 1st film. My reason for that was the fact that he made his armor easier to take off, and it looked a little smaller. But, even so.

@Multi: Thanks for the pics, man. That looks like his infamous hologram that features all of the known armors in the world. It's probably near the end. :)

Is this cool? I mean seriously we saw the first 3 in Iron man 1 and the new one looks almost exactly like the last one.

Bor-ing!

show us the second stage whiplash armor or those robots iron man and war machine were fighting at the end of the trailer! enough of this bullshlt!

@Scion I'm sure there's more to the upgrades than purely superficial design changes. (The Mark II wasn't able to go outside certain air pressures)

The first suit was reaquired at the end of the first film as Obadiah Stane / Iron Monger already assembled it to create his armour.

I believe Stark keeps all versions of the suit not only to keep them safe from enemy hands but also as each have different functions and uses.

mpk1988 - 3/4/2010, 11:29 AM
@Scion : Mark III is not just unpainted Mark II. It is also upgraded to solve the condensation problem at high altitudes and also has weaponry built into it.

The weaponry because he only added that into Mark III after knowing about Stane's role and watching the ten rings wreak havoc in asia.

@Nicholsy : yup.. that order is perfectly right..
Scion
Scion - 3/4/2010, 11:34 AM
That's right, I completely forgot about the mods due to the freezing and the addition of weaponry. Thanks guys.

OK I'm confused, when people say the Extremis armor in reference to the Mark IV are do you mean that it's going to be the actual armor Adi Granov drew or just that it will be more intergrated into his body?

What I want to see is Iron Man unleashing a blast from his chest.
