It's been a decade since the late Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight) sent shivers down the spines of fans worldwide with his Academy Award-winning performance as the Joker and while that portrayal will likely never be topped, next year will see another acclaimed actor take on the notorious mantle as Warner Bros. treats us to the origin story of arguably one of most vile villains of all-time.
Following that wicked first look at Joaquin Phoenix in his full Joker makeup from earlier this week, Just Jared has snapped a ton of new shots of the 3x Academy Award-nominated actor on-set and in full costume while having the time of his life during a riot scene. Since filming just commenced a few weeks ago, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume this isn't his final look, although based on his crimson suit and devlish grin, this scene could take place later in the film than we may expect.
“Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
