"I would have loved to do the Judge Dredd movie that is underway." he told Man Made Movies in a recent interview. "I was in fact sent the script to look at. Its a great script, and I hope I will not rue the decision of passing on it."

When asked why exactly he decided against helming the upcoming movie which will star Star Trek's Karl Urban in the title role he said, "Thing was, I had such a strong idea of what I wanted to do with a Dredd movie, I could not bring myself to take it on and not do it my way!"

"It's not like I could do it as a sequel either; my Dredd would have been really weird, and dark and funny, but not your traditional introduction to a hero character. I don't even know if I could have made my version of the film pitch-able. It was maybe too off the wall," he finished by saying.

Why are they trying to make all these guys play Dredd, none of them meet the fit.
And I want Zach Snyder to direct! Always wanted a R rated Dredd

Yeah I know. I was just stating I Like Karl Urban, but he's wrong for Dredd.
And that I wanted Snyders take on Dredd, not Jones.

If you can't keep to the 2000AD version don't do it. I say thanks but no thanks to your off the wall funny DREDD. We had the stupid funny version Last time.

Now for some hard core JUDGE DREDD.

Moon was amazin, I'd love to see his take on it. I mean when you think about it, the Dredd comic is a bit off the wall anyway! There is a strong satirical vein running through it, and some of the stories were plain bat shit crazy.

@jimoakley666

2000AD has got good humorus moments. But the humor is DARK, and often very dark. I've nothing against a bit of humor but DREDD is DARK.
If his idea was unpitchable it might have something to do with his "my Dredd would have been really weird" bit.

DREDD IS one weird dude. But also a very serious MF.

I agree with @gambitfreak. It has to be R rated.

@ jimoakley666:

"I can't fuking stand Star Wars..."
Wow. What an incorrect statement you have just made. Especially on a comic book movie forum. Especially on an article speaking about the director Duncan Jones. Moon was an absolute throwback to the glorious old-school sci-fi techniques that Lucas glorified and maximized with his Star Wars a long time ago.
Star Wars still rests as the very foundation of comic-book-filmdom to date...

Oh ya, also...Zach Snyder is poo-poo as a director. Guy should work for MTV or something...all style. No substance - ever.
