Dredd was a lot of fun and a worthy adaptation of the beloved comic book series. Unfortunately, it failed to make a particularly significant impact at the box office and that's why there still hasn't been a sequel six years on. We are, however, getting a new TV series titled Mega-City One and now Karl Urban has shed some light on whether or not we should expect to see him make an appearance there.

"I’m not attached to it, although I did have a preliminary round of conversations with them," he teased. "I am interested in doing it. There are a lot of great stories to tell there… their idea for Mega-City One is basically to build the show around more rookie judges and young, new judges and Dredd would come in and out and I said that I’ll do it, but it has to be done in a meaningful way."

That's probably not the Judge Dredd TV series most of us were hoping for but it definitely sounds like it has some potential and there's no denying that seeing Urban show up now and again would be a definite bonus. As of right now, Mega-City One is being shopped around to a number of networks, including Netlfix and Amazon Prime. Unfortunately, it's been a while since we've heard anything.

Well I guess some Dredd is better than no Dredd.

The show revolving around rookie judges with Dredd playing a recurring role sounds interesting, tbh.

@Susanoo - Could work. I hope it's more on how to handle situations, than dealing with the darkness of the world.

I would like to have him (Urban) as a narrator (old Dredd) and this show be about a young Dredd and maybe his mentor actually be the star of the show. Have him telling the story of the man who trained him to become he is.

This shows gonna fail. Seems kinda interesting, but if you cant sell the main character on his own, how do you think youre gonna sell people on the universe he inhabits?

Why do show ideas like this have to be about new characters. Why can't they just make a show about Dredd and tell stories around him. Why must we be force fed new characters. Nobody is asking to watch rookies run around. We want Dredd, plain and simple.

That movie is quite good. It's a shame Urban's Skurge was kinda wasted. I'd like to see him as another superhero. TBH, I think he'd make an alright Batman.

I would give my third testicle for Dredd:SVU, or Dredd:CSI, or Dredd:Blue Bloods. I don't care what they call it. I need more KU as Dredd.

I would rather have just one season with Karl Urban's Dredd than have multiple seasons following rookies.

Adding Dredd this early will scare people away. The 2000ad universe has plenty more tricks up their sleeve. Let's see the other characters get their moment to shine.

HOPEFULLY THIS GETS MADE.

there needs to be more Dredd material like the movie. Its kind of a crime. it could be the modern good the bad and the ugly, and that franchise has a couple films under its belt, so it would be amazing to see dredd in a big budget tv show.

I mean come on how epic was this moment?

Judge Dredd: Inhabitants of Peach Trees, this is Judge Dredd.
Ma-Ma: Let him talk.
Judge Dredd: In case you people have forgotten, this block operates under the same rules as the rest of the city. Ma-Ma is not the law... I am the law. Ma-Ma is a common criminal; guilty of murder, guilty of the manufacture and distribution of the narcotic known as Slo-Mo, and as of now under sentence of death. Any who obstruct me in carrying out my duty will be treated as an accessory to her crimes... you have been warned. And as for you Ma-Ma... judgement time.
