JUSTICE LEAGUE Director Zack Snyder Teases DC FanDome And Shares A New Shot Of Ben Affleck As Batman

With DC FanDome fast approaching, Justice League director Zack Snyder has teased the event with a glimpse of Wayne Manor, while also celebrating Ben Affleck's recent birthday with a new shot of Batman...

This weekend, Ben Affleck celebrated his birthday, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder shared a new shot of the actor suited up as the Dark Knight to mark the occasion.

As you can see, it shows the hero alongside the Batmobile in all its glory, and this was obviously taken around the same time as that shot which first revealed his take on Batman. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there, because Affleck's plans to take the helm of a solo movie soon fell apart, and he would walk away from the role following Justice League.

Talking of Snyder's superhero ensemble, the filmmaker has also shared a tease for the upcoming DC FanDome event with an intriguing shot of Wayne Manor. This doesn't really tell us much about what to expect from the "Snyder Cut," but it looks like we'll return to Batman's home.

Wayne Manor only received a small amount of screentime in Batman v Superman, but in Joss Whedon's version of Justice League, it was hinted that Bruce Wayne would start using his family home as a base for the team (chances are that scene won't be part of the original version of the movie, though).

Lets face it
It probably wont be as bad as most of us think its going to be
It probably wont be as good as the cult of snyder think it will be
In the end it will probably just disappoint everyone.
No excuses this time. Snyder is being allowed full control (which he doesn't deserve), so there is no excuses, if the movie is average at best with a 3 and a half hour runtime, its all on him

@dracula - It will be even better than what Snyder cultists think it’s going to be because they think Zack walks on water, can argue all day long who the worst fan base is but they are without doubt the most deluded

@dracula - tbh after how they screwed him over. He deserves to have all the control on this movie
dracula
dracula - 8/17/2020, 3:32 AM
@LameLuka - they dont owe him shit.

He is far from the first director to be fired from a movie

He doesnt understand these characters

The studio is the one who finances the movie

They are DC characters

You dont do what the boss wants you get fired.

Very few directors get full control of their films, Nolan, Hitchcock, Kubrick, Wells. Directors a lot more sucessful than Snyder in both box office and critical reception.

@dracula - I mean for me to dislike it it has to be worse than the theatrical cut. And there is no way it's worse than that. As batman won't randomly get wet out of nowhere talking to Gordon, wonder woman won't have green in her costume for no reason, and hey at least it will be a full vision not whatever the [frick] we got. Even if it's technically a worse made movie story wise I'll at least respect it a hell of a lot more.

@dracula - well then Warner Bros shouldn't have brought him back after people bitched and moaned about MOS and BvS. If anything its their fault for all of this 🤷‍♂️
dracula
dracula - 8/17/2020, 3:57 AM
@Mrcool210 - yeah there are a few reason why it will probably be better. But better doesnt automatically mean good
dracula
dracula - 8/17/2020, 3:59 AM
@LameLuka - Well ill agree to that, yeah shouldn't have brought him back, Man Of Steel was a good start, but even with the ultimate cut of bvs was at best decent and he botched Batman. Also a movie that is 3 hours long should be a lot better than decent

Just waiting for an official look at Pattinson's Batsuit, like the one we saw was a stunt suit right and it looked good, should look even better when we get the suit that is suppose to be used in scenes with acting

Hey Snyder, want to know how to deconstruct Superman and Batman and tell mature stories while staying faithful to the characters, just watch these

deconstruct them by challenging their ideals, not by making them go against those ideals

God I hated that Wayne Manor scene at the end of the theatrical version. Why on Earth would it be teased as the Hall of Justice in the future? Does Batman no longer have a secret identity? Wouldn't anyone in Gotham find it weird that the Justice League keep hanging out at Bruce Wayne's house? And why is Gotham once again the centre of the DC Universe?

I really hope that that was a Whedon scene and that it won't be in the Snyder Cut. Either way, no matter who directed it, I still hate it. I really hope the Snyder Cut finally does the team justice (pun intended?)

@AC1 - "Does Batman no longer have a secret identity?"

Snyder rendered the idea of a secret indentities as totally pointless. This Batman have a voice modulator to cover his voice which ends being pointless because Lex Luthor knew everyone's secret indentity with no explanation. There's no point to secret identities when you simply write characters who know all their identities but never establish how they found them out.
AC1
AC1 - 8/17/2020, 8:07 AM
@obredaan - one character figuring out someone's secret identity doesn't render the entire idea of secret identities pointless.

Lex Luthor in particular has learned numerous characters secret identities in various iterations of comics and other media so the fact it's happened here isn't an oddity and it doesn't defy the notion that Bruce would keep his identity as Batman a secret in these movies any more than it would with any other iteration of these characters. Plus in the movies, Lex (so far, given how little we've seen of him relatively speaking) has kept everyone's identities secret - the information is his alone to do with as he pleases, when he pleases.

If he decides to team up with someone like Deathstroke and provide him with that information (and I'm pretty sure Deathstroke has learned Bruce's identity in the comics at some point or other) then that obviously creates a personal threat to Bruce. But what you often find in comics, and I'm sure would be the case in the movies, is that certain characters/villains will learn heroes' identities, but for whatever reason won't share that information - usually due to wanting some kind of advantage, or even just out of pride or ego.

With all that said, one person, or even a small group of people, learning Batman is Bruce Wayne wouldn't mean that Bruce should give up on keeping it secret. In fact, he's the type to come up with some sort of plan to somehow restore the secret in some way, or at least cast enough doubt in the public eye that people question it.

Realistically there would already be people who suspect him based on him being in Gotham, having the money (and tech via his company) to become Batman, and the motive based on his parents' murder. Suddenly saying "I'm gonna restore the ruins of my family home as a not so secret base for the Super Friends" would pretty much just confirm those suspicions, which is why the idea of Wayne Manor becoming the Hall of Justice is such a bad idea.

if Snyder cant pull off the perfect movie for this he should be locked away somewhere with Shalaman never to be let near anything again.
so far his fan service updates have been almost cringe worthy. he must just sit on fan forums reading the complaints about the released version and write them down.
no Martian man hunter? right, he is in now.
Black suit superman? right, he is in now.
too much humour? right, make this even darker than my origin vision
humour just right for Aquaman though? right, give him more lines!
Flash annoying? right, give his one liners to aquaman.
main villain was crap? right, change his design and make him the secondary villain
Cyborg not in in enough? right, Cyborg centric version coming up!
no Green Lantern? right, squeeze in more green lantern references somewhere
Superman face CGI (actually, to be fair he could have come up with that one on his own)
Superman hopeful and cheery Reeves type attitude at the end went down well enough.
right, keep that in there somewhere, somehow.

ive probably missed loads of other bits where Snyder has already suggested that he will change to suit fandom but thats a dangerous road to go down. fans are fickle and what will please some people will p*ss off others.

good luck Zac! genuinely hope you can pull this off and give the characters a movie they deserve. may even help more since we have had the aquaman solo movie so we have gotten to know him a little more.

@DemonTweeks - I do get the feeling some of it may be reactionary listening to what Zack has said in various interviews and fan interactions, but I feel like a lot of it is genuinely what he originally envisioned.

I have no idea what to think about his Martian Manhunter comments, for example. It's pretty clear in MoS and BvS that Swanwick is human so unless Martian Manhunter assumed his identity after BvS for whatever reason it makes no sense for him to suddenly be revealed as Martian Manhunter in Justice League, unless there's a really long, convoluted explanation.

In terms of tone, I actually get the feeling Zack was less than honest during production before he left the project originally, rather than being dishonest now. I feel like it was always intended to be similar tonally to MoS (less dark than BvS but still quite grounded and serious) but the backlash against BvS probably led up WB execs at the time mandating a lighter tone and Zack probably had to go around telling everyone that that was his idea from the start. But I don't think a two-part Justice League movie dealing with Superman coming back to life brainwashed by the villains/Darkseid invading the Earth/Batman sacrificing himself to stop Darkseid and prevent the Knightmare future (as has been reported to be the original plan) is something that can be done in a light-hearted way. I also think that relates to Black suit Superman - Zack probably wanted it, WB probably blocked it for being "too dark" and now Zack is working it back in.

I think he was sincere about Cyborg being central to the movie from the start though, I'm pretty sure I remember him saying something similar back when Ray Fisher was first cast, like how Cyborg kind of symbolically tied the team together (human like Batman, accidentally created like Flash, tied to Wonder Woman and Aquaman by the mother boxes, and wrestling with his humanity much like Superman had done previously).

But yeah, I'm interested to see how this turns out. I'm almost certain it'll be way better than the theatrical version, but even then it might still not be great. And I don't think we're genuinely getting Snyder's original vision because so much changed during the original production that he'd have to reshoot 75% of the movie - what I think we're gonna get is the version Zack has been thinking about ever since he left. The next draft, if that makes sense.

@bcom - the warehouse fight is one of the best fight scenes in a CBM. Wish it lasted longer. Also that scene where Batman is hiding up in the corner on the wall and the cop see’s him, that was very intense. I want to see a Batman movie like that!!
