Be warned, some spoilers for Zack Snyder's Justice League do follow!
When reshoots took place for the Snyder Cut of Justice League last year, Zack Snyder added two new scenes: a Knightmare sequence featuring characters like Batman, The Joker, and Deathstroke, and a meeting between Bruce Wayne and Martian Manhunter.
However, the latter was actually meant to feature a completely different character.
"We shot a version of this scene with Green Lantern, but the studio really fought me and said 'We really don’t want you to do Green Lantern,'" Snyder tells Vanity Fair. "So I made a deal with them, and they let me do this [instead.]" Wait, so it was actually filmed? That obviously leaves us wondering who played the character for Snyder, though it is possible a stand-in was used at the time.
As for which Green Lantern we would have seen, it wasn't Ryan Reynolds' Hal Jordan. "It would be John Stewart," the filmmaker confirmed. "They were like, ‘We have plans for John Stewart and we want to do our own announcement.' So I said all right, I’ll give you that. So [Martian Manhunter] was the compromise."
When we spoke to Army of the Dead star Omari Hardwick last year (see below), he expressed interest in John Stewart. Could it be that Snyder enlisted him to suit up for the Snyder Cut?
Unfortunately, we may never know...
