JUSTICE LEAGUE Digital HD Release Date Revealed But Are We Getting That Extended Cut Or Not?

A possible release date for Justice League on Digital HD has been revealed and it appears as if we'll get to see the movie sooner than expected. The question is, will an extended cut be included?

While we're waiting on an official announcement from Warner Bros., a new listing on iTunes points to Justice League being available to buy on Digital HD on January 30th. In the past, the DVD and Blu-ray release of DC Comics adaptations tend to come two to four weeks after a digital release, so chances are we'll be able to get our hands on a hard copy by late February to early March which will be good.

The question is, will we get an extended cut of the movie? That still hasn't been revealed but it's looking unlikely as we probably would have heard something concrete by now. Joss Whedon completely changed Justice League via reshoots/the post-production process so it won't be as simple as adding a bunch of Zack Snyder's scenes in there as they're either unfinished or wouldn't make sense.

As a result, an extended cut probably doesn't exist so we'll just have to hope we get plenty of deleted scenes! Warner Bros. probably isn't planning on spending much on the movie's home release either, especially as Justice League looks set to finish its box office run with an underwhelming $675 million, a figure which is only slightly higher than Man of Steel's $668 million. What do you guys think?

There has to be at least some scenes that can be extended to their original run time and others that can be put back in. It doesn't have to be an ultimate cut like BvS ....just get the runtime 20/25 mins longer...that would improve the movie and increase home release sales.

@emeraldtaurus -

"that would improve the movie"

You have no idea if the scenes exist or the quality of the scenes if they do exist. Adding a potential extra scene would not 'improve the movie' simply by extending the run-time, nor would deleted scenes increase home sales in the modern age where deleted scenes for this movie were already shown online and would be uploaded instantly to Youtube.

@Scarilian - It worked for BvS, the Ultimate Cut was far better received by Critics and WB did say that sales of the UC were quite strong.

An Extended Cut would mean more time sitting through averageness...

I will pass, thank you.

@kylo0607 - Not necessarily...don't be so quick to assume the negative

@kylo0607 - That wasn't the case with Batman v Superman or Watchmen, or any of Snyder's films for that matter. Ultimate, or Extended Editions of his films are always vastly superior to the Theatrical Cuts.

@SisterSunday52 -

well
that's not exactly the case in bvs
"vastly superior"
is an exaggeration
it does improve some scenes
BUT
not the movie as a whole
bvs ultimate edition
STILL
a bad movie.

@SisterSunday52 - BvS's Ultimate Cut improved things just slightly. People act like it magically changed the quality of the film while it didn't erase any fundamental flaws it had.

This is a very quick release. JL should be on HBO in a few months so I'll just wait for that. One imagines that Tsujihara and his cohorts want the thing out on home video and out of mind before that AT&T deal is settled. You know, for their bonuses and such.

@Skrull - It sickens me to no end how poorly this film was treated so that Tsujihara could get his bonus. This could and should have been one of the best Comic Book Movies of all time. I am confident that Zack Snyder would have redefined what can be done in a superhero team film. Just as he redefined Superhero origin stories and created the first trinity Comic Book Movie, but the studio completely ruined it, and for what? They betrayed the DC Films audience, they didn't get much attention from their target Marvel fan audience and they lost money. All for their bonus. I hope they never find work in Hollywood again. People that selfish and incompetent shouldn't run studios.

Studio mandate for a 2 hour film but no studio mandate for a none VFX villain.
