So last Friday I went to see Kick-Ass with my girlfriend. I was extremely excited to see the movie, however I had not read any of the comics. So I really had no idea what I was in for.

From the start I absolutely loved it, and from what I could tell my girlfriend was actually enjoying it as well. I really enjoyed the humor of the film, and was glad that it wasn't over done, and over the top like I expected. I thought Aaron Johnson was great as Kick-Ass, and didn't really have a problem with any of actors performance. I thought Nicholas Cage really brought a lot of character to the film, as Big Daddy, and was blown away by Chloe Grace Moretz. I do have to admit I was a little disappointed by Christopher Mintz-Plasse's character. I thought his acting was fine, but the character was a little dry. I also didn't know that he was a villain, and expected a lot more of him in the movie.

This was definitely a very unique movie. It was one of the most diverse movies I have ever seen. One second it would be so funny you'd cry, then it would be just an all out blood bath, then all the sudden it would seem like one of the most serious movies ever. I think it was a big risk to film it that way, but over all it was pulled off quite nicely.

A couple other problems I had were some of the special effects. The scene when Big Daddy is on fire I don't know if anyone else agrees, or it's just me, but I thought the fire looked very fake. Also in the scene when Kick-Ass was hit by the car(which I thought was going to turn out to be a dream sequence, lol)looked really bad as well. It just looked too computer generated when the car hit him.

Over all I very much enjoyed the movie, and give it a 4 out of 5. I would definitely go see it again, and hope that if there's a sequel it isn't butchered and at least lives up to this one. Hollywood does a really good job a messing up sequels, and I hope it doesn't happen to Kick-Ass 2.

Good review. Not as short as my reviews, but still very good.
