TRANSFORMERS Director Michael Bay Eyed To Helm LOBO As Warner Bros. Looks To Emulate DEADPOOL's Success
More unexpected DC news here, as it's being reported that Transformers helmer Michael Bay is being eyed to direct Lobo, a project that Warner Bros. believes could be its answer to the Deadpool franchise...
Michael Bay knows all about big budget blockbusters after helming FIVE Transformers movies and it appears as if the prolific filmmaker is about to finally make the leap to the world of superheroes. According to The Wrap, the director is being eyed by Warner Bros. to take the helm of what they see as their answer to Deadpool and it makes sense given the similarities between him and Lobo.
After all, Lobo is a foul-mouthed badass who goes on some pretty zany adventures and Bay has already met with DC to discuss the project and give writer Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman) some notes on the screenplay which he's currently rewriting. Once that's done, the studio will show it to Bay in a bid to get him to sign on to direct the project which has been rumoured to be in the works for years.
It's noted that, "The project centers on a blue-skinned, 7-foot-tall, heavily muscled antihero alien who works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter." Brad Peyton was previously attached to direct and it's now going to be interesting seeing how Lobo comes together. How do you guys feel about this news?
