X-MEN Producer Laura Shuler Donner Says She Would "Love" To Have Fox's Roster Join The MCU

With talks heating up between Disney and Fox for the former to purchase the latter, it's been revealed that X-Men producer Laura Shuler Donner is in favour of having Fox's superheroes join the MCU...

With Disney and 21st Century Fox reportedly resuming negotiations for the former to purchase the latter, fans hopes for Fox's superhero properties to return to the Marvel fold are slowly inching closer to being reality. Adding some more fuel to the speculative fire is X-Men producer Laura Shuler Donner, who is apparently all for it.

In Vanity Fair's recent piece on Avengers: Infinity War, Shuler Donner was asked if she would be open to the Marvel Cinematic Universe welcoming the X-Men or other related Marvel properties into the shared superhero world. “Well, I wish," she said. "I would love it, I would love it. But it’s not for me to say.”

This is certainly a far cry from the antagonistic relationship the two companies were purported to have, though Kevin Feige himself (at the time of the interview) insisted that there had been no forward movement on the subject. “Well, the problem is whenever I say anything about it, it becomes 15 headlines. So would we like to? Yeah, of course. Is there any movement toward it at all? No. Same thing. Same status.”

Yesterday's news has shown how quickly these things can change, however, and if the Sony/Marvel deal proved anything, it's that studios often go to great lengths to keep the finer details of these deals quiet before any official announcement. @LaserKing - she would lose her job since her track record isn’t great and she has contributed to a fair number of cinematic abominations though. But what else can seh say?

@BloodyBed - It's there characters at the end of the day, and Marvel's X-Men if ever made will hopefully focus more on diverse team dynamics.

@MCUForever - I mean, it's just nice to have an alternative to feige's films, and WB's cluster [frick] of a universe.

If this happens you have two possibilities when a comic movie is released: a lighthearted cbm, or a shit cbm. There will be no variety of good films, just if you want a cbm that's worth a damn, you're going to have to watch the mcu.

Or just watch Logan and TDK on repeat lol.

@BloodyBed - I see you are one of those crowds who think the massive Disney empire can't and doesn't do R-Rated films.

Also who knows ? We'll never know for sure

Not sure they are needed at the moment... and the only method to introduce them would require a partial reboot or an explanation of the multiverse with them potentially travelling from another universe.

@Scarilian - the mutants have always existed in there own corner of the same universe in the comics. This really wouldn't be any different

@spiderman620 -

It's not as simple as that with Infinity War happening, when the universe is threatened it would be a bit of a jerk move for the X-Men not to help - same with any other heroes.

Maybe you could make an excuse for the street level heroes, but characters like Prof X, Magneto, Cyclops, Wolverine, etc... not so much.

@Scarilian - i refer you to Civil War when Tony visited the mansion seeking the aid of the X-Men in the battle against Steve's resistance. The X-Men were very adamant about staying out of the conflict.

TOTAL REBOOT. NONE of the X-Men films should EVER be canon with the MCU IN ANY FASION.

Except Deadpool. He can stay.
