X-MEN Producer Laura Shuler Donner Says She Would "Love" To Have Fox's Roster Join The MCU
With talks heating up between Disney and Fox for the former to purchase the latter, it's been revealed that X-Men producer Laura Shuler Donner is in favour of having Fox's superheroes join the MCU...
With Disney and 21st Century Fox reportedly resuming negotiations for the former to purchase the latter, fans hopes for Fox's superhero properties to return to the Marvel fold are slowly inching closer to being reality. Adding some more fuel to the speculative fire is X-Men producer Laura Shuler Donner, who is apparently all for it.
In Vanity Fair's recent piece on Avengers: Infinity War, Shuler Donner was asked if she would be open to the Marvel Cinematic Universe welcoming the X-Men or other related Marvel properties into the shared superhero world. “Well, I wish," she said. "I would love it, I would love it. But it’s not for me to say.”
This is certainly a far cry from the antagonistic relationship the two companies were purported to have, though Kevin Feige himself (at the time of the interview) insisted that there had been no forward movement on the subject. “Well, the problem is whenever I say anything about it, it becomes 15 headlines. So would we like to? Yeah, of course. Is there any movement toward it at all? No. Same thing. Same status.”
Yesterday's news has shown how quickly these things can change, however, and if the Sony/Marvel deal proved anything, it's that studios often go to great lengths to keep the finer details of these deals quiet before any official announcement.
