There's a lot of excitement for the Wonder Man TV series coming to Disney+, and a new report offers up some minor story details and plans for it to have a greater number of episodes than even She-Hulk...

Wonder Man is taking shape at Marvel Studios, and a new report suggests it will feature more episodes than even She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. That ran for nine episodes, as did WandaVision, but this series is expected to consist of ten in total.

Six episodes have become the norm for most MCU TV shows on Disney+, so we're assuming each instalment of Wonder Man will be relatively short. This is particularly interesting in the wake of reports that Marvel Studios is looking to scale back its small screen projects in an effort to return to a quality-over-quantity approach to storytelling.

They must have a lot of faith in this one, anyway!

It's also been revealed that the MCU's Simon Williams will be the star of his own show when we meet him, with Marvel Studios looking to cast a female co-star for that in-universe series. As expected, the character looks set to receive a new origin story for his live-action debut.

Aquaman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been cast as Wonder Man, while Sir Ben Kingsley is set to reprise his Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings role as thespian Trevor Slattery. There have also been rumblings that Marvel Studios is eyeing Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk for a "special role."

Scream and Friends legend Courtney Cox is also thought to be in talks for the series, though we're assuming she's not playing the female co-star mentioned above.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton is executive producing Wonder Man with writer Andrew Guest. His credits include hit TV shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine30 Rock, and Community, and Guest is set to serve as Head Writer. Cretton will executive produce and likely direct a few episodes.

Wonder Man made his Marvel Comics debut in the pages of Avengers #9 in 1964. Initially a villain, he was later retconned and became a hero (and an Avenger) in the 1970s. His brother is the Grim Reaper, while it was his brainwaves that were used by Ultron as a basis for The Vision; later, he would join the West Coast Avengers and become a Hollywood star.

Wonder Man is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2024.

I have very little interest for this character, he'd probably work better as a supporting character but I have even less interest since you couldn't even cast accurately and get his basic look right. It's hard to sell a lead character that's been race-swapped on his own show/franchise.

@Chaos200 - If people already "have very little interest" then what does it matter?

@CorndogBurglar - Yet these same exact people will cry Chris Pratt doesn't sound like a stereotypical Italian screaming "WAHOOO!" for 90 minutes because it's not accurate.

@EskimoJ - I had little interest, now I have none. If they had casted accuratel and seemed more like a love letter to the source material, that would have peaked my interest to at least give it a shot, but the casting and the changing of his origin tells me this an "in name only" cash grab production and doesn't seem like something that's to be made with love and care, this is based on past experience.
