So this past weekend, SuperHeroStuff packed up our U-Haul and made our way towards the city of brotherly love for the annual comic convention! We had a lot of fun talking to all of the people that stopped by, and even taking a few pictures of all of those awesome costumes people put so much time into. You could find us easily; we were only a few feet from Data and Q of Star Trek renown! Let's just say, I took the chance at Data to sing 'The Lifeform Song'. It is important to love what you do, right? Regardless, we did pick up a few pointers from our face to face costumers, and got to see many of our items fly off the shelves! We only brought a small selection of our warehouse, but all of the majors were in tow; all of the major DC and Marvel characters with just a pinch of Star Trek and Star Wars. Where would we be if we didn't learn anything?
So in the Men's section, we saw an incredible amount of interest in the Green Lantern which didn't surprise us. I don't know how many people I talked to about the "Blackest Night", but there is still a lot of love for that series, and it showed. Our Green Lantern Foil and Oath shirt, in several vibrant shades of green, was probably our biggest seller out of those T-shirts, following closely by a random smattering of the different types of 'emotions'. Black, Red, and Compassion Lantern Shirts also drew a far amount of sales. I guess with all of those people buying Green Lantern gear, they decided to burn through our supplies of Green Lantern rings! Over the weekend, the Green Lantern Corps got a wee bit bigger. We tended to see people wanting the logo or symbol shirts more then a shirt that had some 'action' going on. Deadpool, Superman, and Batman symbols were expected to go fast, and there was always one of these types of shirts being sold every once and awhile. Superman's 'Rage of Vision' and Batman's 'Detective Comics 821' sold the best out of Batman and Superman.
The most surprising thing about the whole convention was how much all of you ladies love this stuff! Some of the first things we sold out of were Women's and Junior's. Hey, it caught us off guard too! Our Wonder Woman and Supergirl Cami and Panty sets practically evaporated. However, our biggest seller seemed to be Batgirl related apparel. Our Batgirl tank top and boy shorts combo bottomed out almost instantly. Either Batgirl has become infinitely more popular, or the distinct purple and black color scheme was just right. After the tank top/boy shorts combo, the Batgirl 'I'm a Night Person' drew the attention of those looking to get their Batgirl fix.
We had a blast working in Philadelphia and we would like to thank everybody that came in and said hello! We'll always have what you guys need to get your superhero groove on!
