According to the publisher, X-Men: Destiny will include "a rich, branching storyline that features a deep element of choice." This storyline will have players taking on the role of new mutant recruits who will have "ultimate control of their destiny."

Thanks to Wolvie09, we now also have the teaser trailer for the upcoming video game!

The trailer will also be on display at Activision's booth at the New York Comic-Con, which runs from today until Sunday, October 10.

A panel devoted to the game is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 9, at 10:45 AM in Room 1A06. This panel will go in-depth inside Destiny's storyline with writer Mike Carey (who has previously written for the X-Men: Legacy comic).

Although it would be cool to play as one of the classic X-Men, i wouldn't say no to a game where you have to create your own x-man and play through the game along side the classic unplayable members. It would be kind of like DCUO which i find cool for a single game concept :)

I just hope they'll put out a game where we can actually be the x-men as well!

Looks interesting. It looks like we can be good or bad. It's what we need from an x men game

It's better than a game based on X-Men: First Class that's for sure! :P As Shaman points out, it's actually a very interesting idea to create your own mutant and work your way up through the ranks of the X-Men! I hope it has some open world element to it rather than just a series of levels though...games like Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto IV have left me hungry for big areas to explore unless it's pure quality like the smaller ones in Uncharted 2!

Totally agree Josh, I was hoping someone would write an article about this, I had mentioned this in the chat a few hours ago, but didn't want to just regergitate what I had found online, again, hold out hope that this lives up to the potential.

Oooooo this looks interesting, the concept of creating your own mutant is very cool. Although saying that the trailer leads me to think there is only a choice of three characters, two guys and a girl (and a pizza place hehe sorry couldn't resist).

hell yeah been waiting for an xmen game for a long time now. they keep making spiderman ones but i want an xmen one and we finally get one. i was hoping they'd do a xmen legends 3 cause that series was amazing. and this game should be open world that would be amazing.

I can't view the trailer (grrrr, workplace rules on spending time and resources *actually* working...blech). I do hope that it's not the "overhead, three-quarter view" that was used in the X-Men Legends (I and II)/Marvel Ultimate Alliance (I and II)/Dark Kingdom type games. I hate running two players on the same console...only to get stuck in the corner getting my @$$ handed to me because my buddy wants to wail on some low-level peon.

other marvel game? what would that be?

and telavizion, you make ps3 owners look like mature, thoughtful individuals don't you.

Nobody gives a shit. move on. third party exclusives are the thing of the past.

It's more Teaser than Trailer. They generally suck, giving you practically nothing.

I do like the general premise though; playing a new character, your own as it were, in which you can interact with the X-Men's world as yourself, as opposed to playing one (or more) of them.

@telavizion

They are both the same man. You may feel the need to justify spending so much on a games console by calling the competition crap. But neither is better than the other. Get over it and just enjoy games.
MisterJoshua
MisterJoshua - 10/8/2010, 11:21 AM
Wow...

I'll admit, I'm one of the PS3 horde, and I don't have a 360. It's not because I hate Microsoft (just Bill Gates, but that's a different discussion entirely), but more that my wife has told me that we'll be getting a second PS3 *before* we get a 360. It's more a budget thing, as opposed to a preference.

If this *is* going to be an exclusive title, IrfonW, you're more than welcome to come over and try it out...just so long as I get to be player two on your console when you're throwin' down on some Halo: Reach.

If not, oh well, I don't hold 'exclusivity' as a big buying point for my software.

Now, if LucasArts would just crank out KOTR for the Playstation, it'd be all gravy!
MatioShack
MatioShack - 10/9/2010, 1:03 AM
Man, when was the last time Activision made an exclusive game for anyone? They're going to go multiplatform and try and net the broadest audience they can. Mo' money, mo' money, mo' money. Given that the game is open ended (like Fable or Mass Effect) where the player decisions affect the story, it can't be done with an established character. They're stories are already set and shouldn't be manipulated by the player's or they'll lose their authenticity to the source material.
