Thanks to MTV Splash Page for the following information about the conic book and upcoming animated movie:

DC's 12-issue "All Star Superman" was first published in 2005, and follows the Man of Steel as he decides how to spend the remaining days of his life after discovering that a recent Earth-saving encounter has left him dying. The animated movie will feature "Desperate Housewives" actor James Denton as the voice of Superman, "Mad Men" actress Christina Hendricks as Lois Lane, and "Without a Trace" leading man Anthony LaPaglia as Lex Luthor.

"It is a very, very faithful adaptation of the comic," Timm told MTV News at the New York Comic Con. "We try to stay as close to the comic in terms of the story and the dialogue and even the visual style, as close as we could get to it."

"Whether we're successful in doing a really good adaptation of the comic or not, that will be debated endlessly on the internet, I'm sure. But I think we did a really good job. It's actually my favorite of all the DC movies we've done so far."

It looks like a fine movie, and I'll watch it. But DC needs to get on the ball and adapt the DC universe, not the big two.
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies
Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths
Batman: Under the Red Hood
Superman/Batman: Apocalypse
All Star Superman
Green Lantern: Emerald Knights
Batman: Year One
See a pattern?

The graphic novel is high on the list of DC stories that I'm planning on picking up at some point and this is one animated movie I'm very intrigued by. I know I usually say that I don't like this sort of stuff but the story sounds interesting enough to make me want to also check out an animated version! :)

I absolutely love these features! I wouldn't say there are too many superman or batman features because I enjoy them too much. But there is a distinct lack of other characters being given a decent feature. Forget the "shorts" just pad them out into a full feature and give these guy and gals the spotlight they deserve!

@Creature - they might be working only on Superman and Batman, but they are doing a great job. I'm very excited for All Star Superman

I hope it's good. I need something great to wash down the bad taste of Batman/Superman: Apocalypse.

The problem with them doing lesser known charaters, from their perspective, is it's still a ton of time, work & money to make one of these & if people (other than the likes of us) don't buy them, it's a total loss for them. It's not like when a film does bad in the theater (like Hex) but it can still make some money back on DVD and in other markets. If it bombs here, that's it. So while they can take risks & try stuff out, it makes sense that they're at least a little careful.
