Many have their opinions on this one, but I think this would be one hell of a match up. The Hulk who's strength increases as his anger rises vs Doomsday's adaptive regeneration. This is a great example of the proverb "The Unstoppable Force meets the Immovable Object".

THE HULK

(Powers and Abilities)
The Hulk possesses the potential for limitless physical strength depending directly on his emotional state, particularly his anger. This has been reflected in the repeated comment, "The madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets." After probing, the entity Beyonder once claimed that the Hulk's potential strength had "no finite element inside." His durability, regeneration, and endurance also increase in proportion to his temper. Greg Pak described the Hulk shown during World War Hulk as having a level of physical power where "Hulk was stronger than any mortal—and most immortals—who ever walked the Earth."

The Hulk is resistant to most forms of injury or damage. The extent varies between interpretations, but he has withstood the equivalent of core solar temperatures, nuclear explosions, and planet-splitting impacts. He has been shown to have both regenerative and adaptive healing abilities, including growing tissues to allow him to breathe underwater, surviving unprotected in space for extended periods, and when injured, healing from most wounds within seconds.

His powerful legs allow him to leap into lower Earth orbit or across continents, and he has displayed sufficient superhuman speed to match Thor, or the Sentry. He also has less commonly described powers, including abilities allowing him to "home in" to his place of origin in New Mexico, resist psychic control, grow stronger from radiation or dark magic, and to see and interact with astral forms.

DOOMSDAY

(Powers and Abilities)
Doomsday was created through the cloning of an infant and having it killed over and over again by one of the most dangerous species of the universe and in one of the harshest habitats in existence, prehistoric Krypton. As such, the infant evolves and returns to life, becoming resistant or immune to whatever killed it before. After the Radiant killed him the first time they fought, Doomsday grew immune to the former's energy-projection, and even managed to withstand Darkseid's full Omega-Effect. The amount of damage dealt to Doomsday determines the length of time it would take to fully recover. During his outwardly undamaged death at Superman's hands, he only needed some days to recover, but when Imperiex reduced him to a skeleton, it would take months. His entombment in a Calatonian burial suit and metal vault lasted thousands of centuries: after being killed by the Radiant and subsequently undergoing the impact of the casket on Earth, his body was sealed underground in total darkness. Deprived of solar energy, he could only revive extremely slowly.

Doomsday can also develop/evolve resistance from ordinary injuries. Superman once used a sound gun to greatly discomfort him, but Doomsday's auditory canals closed up, making him impervious to Superman's weapon. Waverider once paralyzed Doomsday with chronal energy, but the second attempt backfired. In essence, Doomsday gradually turns more invulnerable if not injured beyond his ability to recover, which is so far undefined. Doomsday has also developed weapons and abilities that counters the powers of an opponent. He managed to cancel out the pure-energy Radiant by slamming into him; to greatly extend his claws and develop a poison to strike Superman in flight and reel him in; or breathe flames against the fire-sensitive Martian Manhunter, and apparently neutralize his defensive phase-shifting power. Doomsday's skeleton protrudes through his skin in razor-sharp spurs which provide protection to his few vital organs (brain, eyes, nervous system), and act as clawlike weapons on his hands, elbows, and knees.

Doomsday possesses extreme physical strength that, variable as it is, at one point enabled him to effortlessly stand his ground against the entire Justice League, including Superman and Orion. He was able to break Superman's left arm with limited effort, as well as outmatch and beat Darkseid unconscious in physical combat. However, his strength has limits: the immensely strong Calatonian alloy cables, in which he was entombed, continued to partially restrain during his initial rampage on Earth. It was never stated how long he had struggled to free his left hand before his escape.

Doomsday is immensely resistant to heat, cold, and conventional damage, allowing him to survive on the most inhospitable worlds, or in the vacuum of space. His durability was able to withstand Darkseid´s full-powered "Omega Effect" without any shown damage.

Doomsday possesses seemingly inexhaustible stamina, and was not noticeably slowed down from fighting Superman for an entire day. His speed and agility are vastly disproportionate to his bulky stature, and has been able to match Superman in this regard. He cannot fly, but rather travels by leaping miles at a time. Superman took advantage of this in their first battle by trying to keep him airborne, as the sky was his element.

Doomsday has a highly accelerated healing factor that allows him to quickly regenerate from most damage. When his side was cut by Superman with a plasma sword, it closed within moments. As a result of his engineering, Doomsday does not need to eat, drink, breathe, or sleep, and his body is almost solid mass with few vulnerable organs.

Doomsday is now genetically part-Kryptonian due to his genes having been spliced with Kal-El's, however with the exception of his flame-breath, he has displayed no additional abilities. In fact, he was shown weaker than previously when he was singlehandedly beaten by Superman. This was rationalized as due to intelligence that he developed, causing him to fear the death that awaited him if he lost, but does not explain how a simple minor concussion could incapacitate his healing factor for the time he remained unconscious. However, he lost his intelligence when sent back in time, reverting him to his original state of fearlessness.

the hulk. far as i know the hulk has never died

he has no fear...when stressed or angered he just

Here's my view......

Joe Fixit or Professor Hulk vs Doomsday: Doomsday wins.
Savage Hulk vs Doomsday: Either/Or Draw
Mindless Hulk or Green Scar(World War Hulk) vs. Doomsday: Hulk wins.

The Unstoppable Force is a good describtion of Doomsday. If you find a way to destroy his flesh and only his skeletion remains, his flesh will start to grow back, no matter what, and no matter how long it takes. You simply cant stop him.

And how has Doomsday a few more weaknesses then Hulk? Is the Hulk unkillable? Cant he die? Doomsday cant really die. And we must not forget that Doomsday killed the greatest superhero of all time. None has ever repeated that feat. Superman takes all, and he took Doomsday with him to his death.
Lets say that in a bizarre world Hulk actually finds one way to kill Doomsday(wont happen), then Doomsday will eventually come back because he turns immune to that death.
You cant successfully take Doomsday and Superman proved that with his life.
"Hulk takes Doomsday" - Oh please. Edge? Doomsday is basically unkillable. And he is almost as strong as Superman. Hulk is NO WAY near Doomsday.

Now, I am hungry as hell. I havent got time to write a decent argument for Doomsday but look at him as a virus. He evolves and becomes immune to the antibody(reason of death). There is no end. Doomsday is named Doomsday for a reason. NOW I GOTTA GO EAT!

Well, Superman did defeat the Hulk in the Marvel vs. DC crossover. But it was the PROFESSOR HULK that he defeated. The Professor Hulk's strength doesnt increase with his anger. Yeah Doomsday may come back immune to the circumstances that killed him before, but how can you come back immune to someone who's powers are heightened with his rage? The Hulk is not going to be as angry at the time he defeats Doomsday the next time around. Doomsday maybe as strong as it gets, but the Hulk's strength is UNLIMITED.

Hulk has the edge.

Ps. Superman is probably the most archetypical superhero, but he's definitely not the greatest. < opinion.
Angelus
Angelus - 11/8/2010, 11:48 AM
@ SageMode - Well, if the Hulk hits Doomsday so hard that he crushes his face, then Doomsday will become immune to face crushes(sounds ridicoulus). No matter how strong the Hulk gets, it will still be the same. I doesnt really matter if Hulk hits him or use externals means like a cannon. If the cannon kills Doomsday, he will become immune against the cannonball shot no matter how strong Hulk is. If Hulk uses a lightsaber and is somehow able to cut him in half, no matter how stronger he will get, that form of death is still the same and will become futile.
Hulks strength doesnt do anything against a near immortal. Hulk can as well cite a poem by Candince Bergen and it wont matter if he gets stronger the next time around, once immune towards that way of killing it cannot be done again.

Hulk has a much an edge over Doomsday as a doorknob has over a typhoon. You cant kill Doomsday. You cant defeat him. Only momentarily defeat is possible. Hulk's strength can be as unlimited as it wants, it doesnt change anything against the likes of Doomsday.

On Supes:
It doesnt matter if it was the Professor Hulk or the Bench Hulk or the Toothpaste Hulk, its Superman.
And its your opinion that he is the most archetypical superhero: he is the archetypical hero. Now you he might not be the greatest in your opinion but heck, thats allright.

doomsday can be stopped has been stopped

the question is who would win not who

would win next time. both sides have

great arguements and im still going

with the hulk .i'd think maybe after

several trashings doomsday might sneak

one in only to die a different death

next time... until hulk grows bored of

kicking his rear end!!!

Deadpool is delusional. Of course Doomsday can be "paused". So can Hulk. But Hulk is a mortal green carrot, Doomsday is death's bastard child.
NPN and LEE are both right.

Angelus - 11/9/2010, 7:36 AM
@Deadpool - Hulk couldnt touch Superman. No one can. He could take one every character in the dc universe and marvel combined and be victorious.

Well Intruder is wrong once again. The subparticles of Doomsday always return. They cannot be destoryed. Strength hasnt anything to do with this. "Hulk just gets angry" - wtf kinda answer is that? Hulk might be strong but he cannot kill that which cannot be killed.

i think hulk would win because of his near limitless power, yes doomsday can come back from the dead and never be killed the same way again but he can be killed while the hulk really never dies

@Angelus: so you mean to tell me that Superman can defeat the combined efforts of Thor, Hercules, Sentry, Silver Surfer, Nova, Wonder Man, Iron Man, Gladiator, Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman, The Flash (Wally West with his INFINITE MASS PUNCH), Black Adam, and pretty much every single Super-Powered Powerhouse from both DC and Marvel?

See, thats how your know when a choice is based on popularity, and not realistic facts based on their powers and abilities. LOL

SageMode - 11/9/2010, 12:40 PM
Yeah, from my Knowledge, the only time the Hulk has been killed is when Thanos had the Infinite Gauntlet. other than, nope. how many times Doomsday "died"? hmmmmmmm.......LOL

Okay Angelus Sentry would obliterate Superman or Doomsday. As for my vote in this battle I have to give it to Hulk. Back to the superman is great thing; do you know who could destroy everyone that anyone here has named? Franklin Richards. Suck on that. Look him up, Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and Sue Storm's (Invisible Woman's) son. Also X-Man or Rachel Summers could all obliterate almost anyone anyone can name. But primarily I will go with FR. SN: Read about when FR saw a possible future where he and Rachel Summers (current phoenix) had a child; how powerful would that child be. Also if you can't tell I can't stand superman.

It's pretty much a melée contest and Doomsday has no problems growing exterior bones that are sharper, defensive and LARGER to both protect and pierce the hulks vital organs. the hulk will not be at "world war hulk" rage when the fight starts and that gives Doomsday all the time in the world to adapt to such a primitive fighting style "Hulk Smash" FTL!!!

HULK STRONGEST THERE IS!!!!!
hulkster1
hulkster1 - 9/2/2011, 8:29 PM
HULK will definitely win. Because HULK have a more realistic power base. Nobody say the HULK cannot die. And when he die, he will regenerate and come back stronger and angrier. But Doomsday's power base is flawed. He can die, and he will come back with the previous issue fixed. Does that mean Doomsday can come back after Galactus eat him up or when the Living Tribunal blast him into oblivion? You mean he will gain a power base, stronger and more powerful than galactus or the living tribunal?

A fair competition would be for the one above all in Marvel and The presence of DC to max out the strength and abilities of hulk and doomsday, no dying and come back shit. who dies, stays dead. Then in that case, I think the hulk will ripe out doomsday's heart in a matter of minutes.
