The increase increasing popularity of Remakes, comic book movies, sequels, prequels and 3D movies are going to be a huge cash cow in 2013. Some sequels are well deserved, but others are just the same story over and over not to entertain the audience but to continue to gain money to fill the executives' pockets.

Do we really need to see Star Wars Episode II & III on the big screen again? Don't get me wrong, I am a Star Wars fan. However, It seems George Lucas would rather continue gaining profit from his Star Wars Trilogies with little to no work behind them, than actually produce a great NEW trilogy for fans to enjoy for the first time. With each new Re-release of a Star Wars movie that's promised to the fans is "Experience Star Wars like Never Before", is constantly losing fan after fan as they realize that Lucas has reached the tip of his creativeness and that now there is no where to go but down. Eventually Lucas will continue to lose money as he re-re-re-re-re-re-releases Star Wars "LIKE NEVER BEFORE".

I would however like to see a reboot of Robocop, but not how they're doing it. My BIGGEST problem with this new Robocop movie, is the costume. From the pictures I've seen, Robocop barely even resembles the character who became a huge movie franchise, Saturday morning cartoon and toy line. I like how they've done the visor and the style of the costume, however an all black suit? Fan made Redesigns of the costume showed up online shortly after the studio released the official pictures. The re-designs showed that with a simple color change and the addition of a black hand rather than skin hand, and Robocop would have an updated look that people would like.

Man of Steel, The Wolverine, Thor The Dark World, Lone Ranger, and Iron Man 3 are next years most anticipated movies. After the colossal failure of X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X3: The Last Stand, Most of us prayed for our favorite Canadian Claw wielding hero to get another chance, with Jackman playing the Canuck once again. Hopefully Hollywood won't let us down like they did with Superman Returns. Speaking of Superman, After Bryan Singers tremendous flop, fans weren't sure if we would ever get the Superman movie we deserved. However, with the release of officials photos from the upcoming Man of Steel movie and speculation on the secretive look of ZOD portrayed by Michael Shannon, fans are on there toes awaiting to believe that a man can fly. And if that wasn't enough coming off the success of some of the most profitable movies Marvel Studios has ever constructed are Iron Man 3 and Thor the Dark World. We've seen photos of new armor, Iron Patriot, and villains for Thor to swing his hammer at... Marvel continue their winning streak?

Star Trek and GI JOE continue their battle for #1 movie of the year as once again they meet at the box office after the success of their 2009 releases. We get to see Cobra take over the White House and Captain Kirk command the Enterprise once again. Unlike the previous Trek films Star Trek Into the Darkness will have no Roman numeral or subtitle unlike the original film series and the Next Generation franchise. As far as I know, it's yet unclear as to what the focus of the film will be, but Trekkies everywhere have huge expectations.

We're going to see the sequels to The Smurfs (which I thought was a hilarious movie and my children loved it), The holiday ronch film Bad Santa, The Hunger Games, Sin City, Fast and Furious, Percy Jackson, Kick ASS, 300 and Red.

Expect to see a rise in horror films as Texas Chainsaw Massacre goes 3D, Carrie gets remade, Scary Movie 5 hit the box office. We'll more than likely see a following of the Paranormal Activity tradition around next Halloween as we did for years with Saw.

The movie industry is definitely trying to play catch up after the losses they've suffered in previous years. I expect 2014 to follow suit as the Hollywood continues to build steam as they rebuild Toon Town to it's one time glory.

Bad Santa 2?? Really? I hadn't heard about that!

My self-restraint can only take so much - there are some things I just have to point out.

First, you don't know that the new Murphy has an actual bare-skinned hand or just a prosthetic. What we saw was a shot of the actor in the costume on set, walking towards the scene that would be filmed. Just as any actor will wear something of a jacket or a poncho right before filming takes place, the same may very well have happened in this instance. Perhaps he hadn't put the glove on that hand yet.

Second, Superman Returns didn't flop - its gross ranks at the top of any Superman movie ever made, and returned almost 150% of its budget (not impressive really, considering the budget was $270 million, but still). And I think with the cast as they are of "Man of Steel", the goal is to convince the audience that MEN can fly. :)

But yeah, if your point is that there's just too many remakes and sequels abound next year, I totally agree with you - although some sequels are bound to be awesome.

Jurassic Park 3D is a must see for me because the first film has always been my all time favorite movie. Never read the book, never will. Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World are no doubts for me to see. Might see Carrie. Won't see Catching Fire because the first one was such a disappointment. If Bad Santa 2 looks good, I might see it cause the first one is funnier than hell. Won't see Hangover part 3 because for as much as I like the first, the second one was a let down. The Wolverine and Man of Steel are possible for me to see. Will have to see full trailers for them. Star Trek I might see.

G.I Joe Retalliation is a maybe, Red 2 is a maybe, Robocop I might if it looks good. Pacific Rim is in my top 10 and that's it. The rest can kiss my ass.

Loved the last paragraph. Very well written. I really do think any reboot, remake,or sequel is fine, just as long as the movie is taken serouisly, and the final project turns out great.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D - MEH, not really a franchise I have much love for.

A Good Day to Die Hard - Very excited for this movie. Midnight release.

Oz: The Great and Powerful - I'm sure I will see it, might wait till discount theater.

GI Joe: Retaliation - I will possibly take my 9yo to see this. Might wait till discount theater though.

Carrie - Yeah not one of my favorite horror movies. Maybe on Blu-ray.

Jurassic Park 3D - I will be taking my 9yo to this one. I loved the first and third Jurassic Park films.

Evil Dead - We will see. I hope it can live up to the original.

Scary Movie 5 - Really... I still haven't seen 4.

Iron Man 3 - Midnight screening. Avengers being the best CMB of all time leads me to believe that the Iron Man follow up should be amazing in its own right. I will see this at least two times.

Star Trek Into the Darkness - Midnight release on this one as well. Might see this more than once too.

Fast 6 - I am sure I will catch it at a friends when it comes out on Blu-ray.

The Hangover 3 - Yup, seen the first two in theaters so going to see this one there too. Not sure what else they have left to do though.

Man of Steel - I am sure I will catch it at some point.

World War Z - Don't know enough about it yet.

Kick Ass 2 - Excited for this one. Possible Midnight release.

Lone Ranger - Johnny Depp, no thanks.

Independence Day 3D - Eh, I own it on Blu-ray & have a 3D tv... not worth the cost to see it in theaters.

Grown Ups 2 - No thanks.

The Wolverine - I'll just watch the footage that hits the internet a month before the film releases. (I Kid) I will probably see it.

Smurfs 2 - I'll probably Smurf my way to the theater, spend a Smurf load of money on refreshments, & kick back and enjoy this Smurfin sequel.

300 Rise of an Empire - I dunno. The first one was good because the style was revolutionary. Now... its kinda over done.

Red 2 - Maybe.

Percy Jackson: Sea Monsters - Doubt It.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For - I feel for this much like I do for 300, but of the two this one has the better chance of being seen in theaters.

Star Wars Episode II & III - Let me know when IV hits theaters.

Thor The Dark World - Midnight release for sure. Another possible multiple viewing.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire - Um, NO!

Bad Santa 2 - Possibly.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - If the first one convinces me that there is enough to make this three movies and not be boring then yes.

I'll watch all the CBMs and the Hobbit. As far as the others go, it will depend on reviews. No interest in GiJoe, FF 6, or Red 2.
Evil Dead and Carrie might be good and OZ could be a surprise hit.

Just thought i would pipe in with something.

Didnt George Lucas sell Lucasfilm along with all rights to the star wars films recently?

Wouldnt that mean that Lucas himself is not profiting from any re-re-re release of the original Star Wars films??

The Hobbit... if its anything like the first three middle earth films, seriously it was slooooow and boring, Gandalf the useless did nothing but talk, no magic at all!

Sin City...remove colour, make film good. Uh, nope it make good film black and white...i have a colour TV thanks.

The Wolverine... sure, lets make a film about a character with cat like relexes and the agility of a ferret walk cumbersomely around the ground and fight like a boxer with his laces tied together. No thanks.

Superman... will have to see. Cant be worse than the spider boy series, or worse the latest spider anerexic movie.

Percy Jackson, hell no.

Hangover 3. Shouldnt this be titled escape from rehab...or better, irresponsible losers wake up in prison serving life?

Smurfs. First time i have smurfed having kids, ill have to, its smurfing inevitable, smurf it.

Good day to die hard. Like willis but i hope his hips and knees can hold up.

Bad Santa. Stay down.

No comment on remakes, originality in holywood is obviously dead. Seriously, dont they learn from disasters like Total recal, Conan, Judge Dread...leave them alone dammit.
