No Ordinary Family focuses on a couple (played by Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz) who, along with their teenage son and daughter, get super powers after being involved in a mysterious plane crash.

When asked about her character Stephanie Powell, who gains the power of super speed in the show, the Dexter and Punisher: Warzone actress described her as, "...failing at being a wife and mother and a very type A personality," whose powers, "suddenly allows her to be everything she can't be without them."

"But these powers really, really help her out, big time. That's her struggle. Are these powers good? Are they bad? Do I want them? Do I not want them?" she revealed when describing Stephanie as a very active character who wants to find out why this is happening and has her concerns for her family.

The Shield and Fantastic Four star, Michael Chiklis, was then quizzed about why the show and this genre appeals to him: "There's such a sameness – an endless amount of procedurals. The superhero genre is really coming into its own. The scope of the show is rather large. It's intimate and a family show, but the superhero thing makes it all the more exciting. If we can pull this off, it'll be something really, really special for people to watch every week."

Chiklis plays Jim Powell, a police sketch artist who develops super strength. He finished by making it clear that despite some similarities to a few other superhero related characters, this is a show that is very much an original creation. "This isn't 'Heroes,' this isn't 'The Incredibles.' This is No Ordinary Family."

I for one am really looking forward to this show. :) I loved Michael Chiklis in The Shield and despite a crappy performance in Punisher: Warzone, Julie Benz was pretty great in Dexter!

Nice find Josh, I haven;t seen any trailers for this(are there any?) But...

"This isn't Heroes, this isn't The Incredibles. This is No Ordinary Family."

Ok Mike, easy to say, lets see a difference because this SOUNDS like a worse version of all of em! I mean looks at those pictures! Are we getting The Brady Bunch with super powers? I know you can't judge a book by its cover but for now, I'm not exactly excited for this one.

ROR: Thanks bud! :) I think I remember seeing a trailer a while back...you'll probably find it on YouTube or somewhere here on CBM! It was pretty good but pictures like the ones above do make it look pretty much how you've described, lol! To be honest, it's these two along with a few other members of the cast that has me interested! Regardless, I am looking forward to this and The Cape though, but would be much more excited if Marvel and DC were bringing more of their characters to the small screen!

The only comparison you can really make with The Incredibles is that they are a FAMILY with superpowers.....that's it.

Can't wait to see Julie Benz with a "Type-A" personality.....i'm so used to seeing her be extremely submissive from Dexter......that and Romany Malco is awesome, plus Michael Chiklis is the man!

Looking forward to this one...

Is this show just going to show the families everday struggles or are they actually going to fight crime?

I just saw the new trailer a couple days ago at an AMC theater. It actually looks pretty good. even if it is a copy of all those other shows you mention, we should be happy we are getting our Super-hero fix one way or another. :)

By what I saw, the dad has super strenght and can jump pretty far. The mom has super speed, the girl has psychic abilities (but says she doesn't want them), and the son becomes like a genius or something.
