These are my 5 favorite fictional materials; so incredibly awesome I openly petition them to be added to the Table of Elements. While I may never get my wish I can at least share the list with you. Here they are, in no particular order.

1) Adamantium
This is probably the most famous fictional element, popularized of course by Wolverine and other famous Marvel characters. Essentially unbreakable, never wears down, and incredibly sharp. While I may pass-up the opportunity to graft it to my bones, it would be the only silverware set I would be excited to buy.

2) Vibranium
Found in the highly technological and somehow extremely dated land of Wakanda, home of the Black Panther, this metal has made several awesome appearances in the comic-world. It is the material that Captain America's shield was constructed from. It affects the land and vegetation, often giving them strong and mystical elements. One variation; Anti-Metal, can cut through all other metals. It can absorb energy and sound, and has a strong resistance to magic. It is also responsible for the discovery of adamantium. Bose should make headphones made from this stuff.

3) Nth Metal
Native to Thanagar, the homeworld of Hawkman, this is my personal favorite metal. It possess anti-gravity properties, so the wearer can essentially fly. It can also speed up the healing process and give the wearer additional strength. I'm not a big jewelry person but I would wear even the most flamboyant bracelet or necklace if it was made from Nth metal. Hell, if I could fly and be nearly invincible, that might be all I would wear. That's true freedom!

4) Kryptonite
Okay, so maybe this is the most famous fictional material. We all know why; Superman's most recognized weakness. In some ages Kryptonite has no effects on humans, but I prefer the ones that allow it to give us normals super-human abilities. I would throw a nug in my coffee grinder to give me that extra-extra perk in the morning. Plus, it can take down Supes, so it had to be on the list.

5) Mutant Growth Hormone (MGH)
We have all wondered what mutant powers we would have if we had the right genes. MGH would allow us to figure out what those powers actually are. I would love this stuff. I can understand addicts if MGH were actually around; who wouldn't want the ability to fly, shapeshift, spit fire or shoot lasers out of every orifice? I would inject this stuff daily and run around the world in a super-sonic delirium.

Inertron, Unobtainium, and Unstable Molecules almost made the list, but with only 5 spots there just wasn't room. Disagree? Got one I forgot? Well, as wrong as you most surely are, leave me a comment so I can scoff loudly before consuming another bag of Cooler Ranch Dorritos.

What about Uru, as in the metal that Thor's hammer is made of?

Good brief article.

If I may defend you, why mention Uru when only two weapons of note were constructed from it? (Thor and Beta Ray Bill's hammers)

The list is good, as well as your honorable mentions.
