A Young Justice Animated Series Coming Soon?

Could we be seeing a "Next Generation" Justice League???

According to Bleeding Cool, a new animated series featuring the next generation of Justice League members could be gracing our small screens in the not too distant future. Instead of the normal roster featuring the likes of Green Lantern, The Flash, and Wonder Woman, we will instead see their youthful counterparts in the form of: Impulse, Nightwing, Arrowette, Aqualad, and Connor Kent!

Apparently, Stephanie Lemelin, overcome with personal excitement, blabbed on her personal blog that she got the role for Arrowette. She also suggests that a teaser will be featured at Comic Con (San Diego?) just before it mysteriously disappeared.

I don't think so.

This is from DC Comics.com:

"Written by Peter David and D. Curtis Johnson; Art by Todd Nauck, Lary Stucker, Alé Garza and Cabin Boy

YOUNG JUSTICE: A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN presents the earliest adventures of the world's greatest teenage heroes. The adolescent sidekicks and protégés of the icons in the Justice League — Robin, Superboy, Impulse, Wonder Girl, Arrowette, and Secret — decide to form their own group to fight the menaces to society. Tackling offbeat adversaries in amusing adventures, the teens get themselves in all types of trouble as their different personalities and styles create chaos in both their epic battles and everyday interactions."

They are a separate group, altogether.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!
HALLE-FRICKING-LUJAH-IN-SOLID-DIAMOND-SHEET!
This is officially the best news ever!

YJ is, and will always be my all time favorite CB title.
I've got the entire run, including the specials.
Frankly, I consider the greatest sin of DC the disbanding of the team and the sorry bastardized transition into Teen Titans.

If they do this in a more serious way like wolverine and the x-men instead of like teen titans with all the goofy shit in it, It could be a good series!!

Aqualad doesn't belong ANYWHERE NEAR Young Justice! WHERE THE [frick] IS SECRET?!?!?!?!?! And Young Justice is led by Tim [frick]ING Drake!!! Not Nightwing!!! You know, i really don't get how they can [frick] with a success like Young Justice! I mean, they can't say that they are tweaking it for a younger audience! IT'S ALREADY GEARED TOWARDS A YOUNGER AUDIENCE!!! This is just retarded.

its a cool concpt but the changes (nightwing instead of robin, aqualad) might cause a problem.

Shaman is exactly right here! Nightwing doesn't belong on this team. Part of what made Young Justice so fun was that Tim Drake was so damn serious all the time, much like his mentor, and Impulse absolutely drove him and Superboy nuts. Dick Grayson has a different personality, and is older than the rest of these characters. Nightwing would have fit in just fine with Teen Titans, especially the rest of the team we saw on that series. This series needs Tim Drake.

Aqualad really doesn't belong here either, but I might be a littie more forgiving of that. And I'd also like to see Secret. I've also got a feeling that Arrowette's origin will be dramatically changed to make her Green Arrow's daughter. As I recall it, her mother was like the stage mother from hell who was pushing her daughter into being a hero. I don't remember her being Green Arrow's daughter, but it's been a while since I read these books.

And while I agree with your 6:26 post, Shaman, that last one is definitely TMI.

If you go back and read the original article, you'll see that spirit is indeed included. And it was a an unidentified source that said "Nightwing" was going to be on the team rather than Robin. In the end, this isn't an official report. So far its rumor.

Phinehas- Well, i feel a bit better since you say it's only a rumor. It would really be a shame to break up the chemistry between the three main characters as comicb00kguy said. It's afterall what MADE the team a success to begin with.

comicb00kguy- Sorry bud, i went a little "Inspector Todd" there for a minute LOL :P

Lagoon Boy was part of the Young Justice special back in the No Man's Land days for a one shot. I could forgive him being a member but NOT Aqualad. And how retarded would it be to have a young teen being Nightwing??? He's supposed to become Nightwing while entering his manhood(or late teens) isn't he??? Who the hell handles these series?!?!?! I'm not giddy over Ironman being a young teen in his series but i won't tolerate mini Nightwing.

As for Arrowette, i wouldn't mind if they made her Green Arrow's daughter instead of Bowstring's. Afterall, her mother Bonnie King WAS Green Arrow's pest side-kick known as Miss Arrowette and DID date Oliver Queen a little while. She could be an illegitimate child or something Oliver's not aware of. I wouldn't mind that cause who cares who her real father is. It's not really important i guess.

Phinehas: Where is the original article about this? I recall seeing an article about casting for Arrowette, but that's the only other article I've seen here regarding this. I don't recall seeing Secret mentioned in that article. IF that is where that appeared, I'll have to go back there tonight and re-read that. Please forgive an old geek with a short memory!

I hope that this casting IS only rumors, at least as far as Nightwing is concerned. I think I could forgive them for making Arrowette Green Arrow's daughter for the sake of expedience in telling her origin. Hey, at least they're talking about using her and not Speedy/Red Arrow!

It seems I'm late to the game again. There was an article posted on Tuesday that was in "Fansites" but didn't make Main. So, I didn't see it until just a few minutes from this comment. Ashley (the first one to post) did refer to Bleeding Cool.

comicb00kguy- Good point! Speedy wouldn't belong there since he's supposed to be around the same age as Grayson, right? Plus, i LIKE Arrowette! She's cool :)

They are probably going with Nightwing to avoid the "Isn't this just another Teen Titans?" questions/criticism from those that do not know that they are separate entities. I haven't read these, but the way Shaman describes Tim Drake it sounds like the TT writers ripped him off for their Robin.

If they keep this in the Batman TAS, Superman TAS, JLU, Batman Beyond, etc. universe I will watch it.

A Young Justice series would kick ass!!
Hell, even a Titans series REMOTELY like the comics would be awesome! Still, to do YJ they'd have to add alot of humor... nuthin compared to the Titans series tho.

I'm content to believe that just whoever gave the statement was seveirley disinformed, ignorant, or just plain too excited and thus misstook/misspoke nightwing for robin and AL for secret.
If I'm deluding myself, please don't burst my bubble, at least the world is happy place from within ;)

Hey KIR! =)

I typically feel the same way that you do about token heroes. I feel much of the reason for doing it is to reach a different demographic than the original target audience with an anti-composite of the hero. Its actually quite disingenuous. However, as a member of the said target audience, I would be curious of who would pick up the mantle of mortal heroes and how they deal with the responsibilities, as well as living under the shadows cast by their predecessors.
Teen Titans seems more of an immature thread, but I don't think that's what Young Justice would be, though there would be some element to it.
