DMG Entertainment Partners With Valiant For Slate Of Movies, TV Shows, And More

It looks like Marvel Studios and DC Entertainment will soon have some serious competition as DMG Entertainment has entered into a historic eight-figure partnership with Valiant to bring the likes of X-O Manowar, Bloodshot, and Shadowman to the big and small screens...

Valiant Entertainment has a library of over 2000 characters, including fan-favourites like X-O Manowar, Bloodshot, Harbinger, Shadowman, and Archer & Armstrong. There's been talk of some of these being brought to the big screen for some time, but DMG Entertainment (who co-financed Iron Man 3) has now partnered up with the comic book publisher for a planned slate of films, TV shows, publishing, and licensing that will culminate in the big screen debut of Valiant’s universe of characters in theaters around the world. Current Valiant feature films in development include the previously announced Bloodshot from Sony Pictures in partnership with Original Film; Shadowman in partnership with the Sean Daniel Company from a script by J. Michael Straczynski; and Archer & Armstrong, also with the Sean Daniel Company from a script by BenDavid Grabinski; among others. Valiant has apparently also already begun development on several television projects.

"Global markets, like China, offer the greatest opportunities for monetization from merchandising, licensing, as well as revenues from film and television properties. Comic superheroes are the most lucrative and sought after IP for movie franchises, so taking a stake in the last independent massive comic universe is a strategic investment for DMG that will produce movies and TV that are both appealing and relevant to a global audience," said DMG CEO Dan Mintz. "We are excited by the opportunity to bring these incredibly engaging characters and their stories to the big screen."

"Valiant’s iconic stable of intellectual property and world class management team coupled with DMG’s unmatched skill with entertainment brand building in China make a formidable partnership," said Valiant Chairman Peter Cuneo. "We will look forward to introducing some of the most popular superheroes of all time to the world’s fastest growing market across all media forms."

"Audiences in China and the rest of the world are hungry for heroic stories that they can more easily relate to…and with the international box office accounting for the biggest piece of the total gross, the time is right for a truly international superhero franchise. DMG will bring its unique global perspective to the task of transforming the Valiant Universe into the first international comic-movie universe," added DMG President Wu Bing. Will they be able to compete with Marvel and DC? That remains to be seen...

We need some Valiant extremists to mix things up on the site. I can't wait for this new breed of troll to flourish.

HOT RUMOR! RT! Could #EastEnders star Sam Strike be the new SPIDER-MAN? Strike's manager Lee Morgan has tweeted that the actor "has been offered the lead role in a very big US film, Info soon." Strike also tweeted that he started working out at the gym for cheeky new role. Get this, Strike then tweeted Robert Downey Jr the day of hitting the gym. Hmmm...will investigate further with sources later this morning. The actor is 21 so he is within the age range #Marvel is looking at. #SamStrike #Spiderman

I swear people are riding the bandwagon for Dylan O'brian, he's not a bad young actor at all but he's NOT the only actor who could pull off the role. I'd rather them go with an unknown honestly.

Marvel, DC, DMG...none of these pretenders got Betty or Veronica!

Back on subject I think that this news is also great to bring in a new sibling for the CBM universe as well.

Don't know much about these characters, does valiant have a big superhero team ala justice league for dc or avengers for marvel?

I dunno man, Valiant always looks so 90s-esque. I can't say I've actually read any of it though, so I don't really know. But I never read any of it because none of it has ever looked appealing.

and yes I know they had a series already, but I think it could be better and crossed over with Darkness and spawn..

Just wish Dark Horse and Image comics would start up their respective shared universes already. Fox and Sony should quit stepping on Marvel's toes and invest in their own comic universe

Haven't read any of the new incarnation of the Valiant line, but I collected all the titles from their original run from the late 80's thru the 90's. Good stuff. Back in the 90's the guy that owned the comic shop where I bought my books, was going to the dealers only Diamond Distributor's three day convention in Baltimore. Each dealer was allowed to bring two guests, and I was lucky enough to be one of them. I got to meet Jim Shooter and Bob Layton, who left Marvel and started Valiant. And on a personal note, the Sat. night at the convention, there was a big dinner and I happened to be sitting in the seat beside Stan Lee. Real nice guy. Had a great time talking comics with him...ALL comics! The guy's no troll.

Also, Jim Shooter was sitting not to far from Stan Lee, which might have been a tad awkward since Lee fired him from Marvel!

@DoktorWeezil

Never knew there was a Wildcats and Witchblade animations… I have seen pictures from something that looks like Wildcats animation but not the show itself. I own all the HBO series of Spawn great show but no real plot to each season.
Spawn is one of my favorite comic characters of all time.
