Eddie Murphy On Whether He Ever Wants To Play A Superhero

Eddie Murphy has worked in Hollywood for over 36 years and turns 56 next year. He's done nearly everything there is to do in Tinseltown except for one thing...play a superhero. Could that be changing?

Out promoting his upcoming drama, Mr. Church,  longtime Hollywood heavyweight Eddie Murphy spoke to Mashable about the chances of him ever starring in a comic book movie.  Said Murphy, "I’m kind of long in the tooth to fly in in a cape now, so I’d have to be like the voice of reason or somebody.Don’t do that, super-fellow! Or we need such-and-such.I would do a superhero movie if it was funny and we were making fun of superhero movies and I figured out how to do something funny."  It sounds like Murphy wants to be the Lucius Fox to someone's Batman.  Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy suddenly becomes very different with Murphy in the role instaed of Morgan Freeman.

While he did flirt with superhero movies during his earlier years( he was nearly Robin in his younger days and was more recently rumored for the role of The Riddler)  it sounds as if Murphy thinks that ship has sailed.  "But even I don’t buy me flying in with a cape on and you know, f#%king everybody up, having lasers shoot out. See this? Doesn’t this look like bulls*&t? What would you call this? Who would I be?

Do you think there's a superhero or super villain role out there for Murphy? Let us know in the comment section below.
