Actor Ethan Hawke has quite the resume. As well as acting in everything from Dead Poets Society to Hamlet to Daybreakers, he also directs for the stage and has written two novels.

Well it looks like he’s after the comic book industry next. He’s been quoted as saying;

"If I could work with a graphic artist and I’m working on trying to do that, that would be fun. I have the idea in my noodle but I’m not sharing it! I plan on meeting with the publishers at Vertigo. I love that stuff. I have a whole other part of my brain that does that."

While I think some actors/actresses are perfect for CBM's, some should stay well away. This guy is quite wooden in most of the roles he has played over the years.

The main problem with Hollywood is it's all about the money. Most of the people cast in recent CBM's aren't passionate about the roles they play, only the pay check they get at the end.

Stick to the sloppy stuff Ethan as you're no Edward Norton.

Hmmm...Well, if he is passionate about doing a comic more power to him. Cant honestly say I'd be up for reading it though. Sorry Ethan, loved ya' in "The Explorers"!

I hope his main character of his graphic novel doesn't look just like him. Lame.

When actors make comics they see it only as another way to promote themselves like "Tyrese's Mayhem". That comic went poof!

wait, I'm confused. The first half of the article sounds like he wants to write a comic book. but the second half you make it seem like he wants to star in a comic book movie.

If he's planning to write a comic, more power to 'im. It isn't the first time somebody in Hollywood's done that, both short and long term.

Sorry if this is a little sloppy(first post)but you know once he's done a graphic novel he will want to bring it to the big screen.
Hopefully it won't happen(fingers crossed)

I used o work at *** ******* restaurant in Chelsea, in Manhattan in '07 as a bathroom attendant. I remember one night Ethan came to eat. He came down stairs to the bathroom and it was just him and I standing there. I just said "how are ya" with a smile and we engaged in some short small talk. He was cool, quiet, a tad nervous and looked quite busted, pale, dry & disheveled. He gave me a dollar tip to which I kindly thanked him! Seemed a decent guy though. true story...

I gotta' chime in right here. Hartley makes a good young Ollie, but I see a much older actor holding down the part. Hell, Oliver Queen was in his mid 40's way back in the Mike Grell days. That was like '88 or so. I'm still leanin' towards Keifer Sutherland, no to Ethan Hawke!

Ethan Hawke is a very good actor, to me at least. Alive, Training Day, Taking Lives, Lord of War... He is always entertaining and often times steals the show from bigger stars, or pars with them at the least. I think it's awesome the guy seeks to span all aspects of creativity he is able. He's a seeker and I admire that.

I really gotta chime in with Myth & Tocap here. Talk about roasting the guy before he has the chance to prove himself. 'Mayhem'... point taken, but that doesn't mean this will be the same. He's going after Vertigo, which means he's interested in the story aspect, and not just a flashy bing-boom.

Daybreakers, Gattaca, Precinct 13 & an upcoming Linklater project - He's obviously got some fanboy in him. Not saying it will be good or bad, but let's try and curb our inner b!tch until we see what he's got. :P

A lot of people thought Gerard Way was full of S#!t, even with him being a Kubert Grad... and Umbrella won him a damn Eisner.
