Marvel Vs. DC Flame Wars Are Stupid

Marvel Vs. DC Flame Wars Are Stupid

I've noticed a lot of flame wars on this site lately, and around the Internet in general, some of which I stupidly participated in and now feel like a royal...well, I ain't proud of it. Here's my thoughts on the recent BvS move, which I think was an excellent business decision and why flame wars are just plain stupid.

I'm guilty. I admit it. I used to be one of those guys who started crap on the Internet. I'm mostly a Marvel fan, and I used to engage in "flame wars" just to piss off DC fans.

Then I grew up and realized that both companies are awesome in unique ways, and neither of them should be free from a critical eye. Wasting time on flame wars is stupid. Don't do it.

I think it's time for comic book fans to stop acting like a bunch of 4-year-olds and start learning to appreciate all the different aspects of this awesome artform we get to enjoy on a weekly basis, learning to discuss differences in taste without wanting to rip each other's throats out. I know I'm willing to try.

Let me know what your thoughts are on flame wars down below.

I've never understood why people are forced to choose sides or have to label themselves as either a Marvel fan or a DC fan... Why can't we be a fan of both? I love all the comic companies from IDW and Dark Horse to Marvel and DC

No one will ever be able to stop it. These people have an insatiable need to show off how huge their hard ons are for their respective companies.

@ScottMontgomery I'm with you man. I love good stories, I don't care which publisher they come from. I like a lot of IDW stuff, especially Turtles and Transformers.

@penguinlover Yeah, that more or less sums it up lol. I love Marvel. It's the company I read most. It's my personal taste, but I've grown to enjoy all kinds of stuff and see value in it all. Don't understand extreme forms of brand loyalty lol.

I agree that nobody can stop it, but you guys don't have to be a dick to @mikecantrell83. It's not like this is a badly written article or anything.

You put down stupid, retarded, mind blowingly idiotic comments, such as the one above, and still have the balls to say DC fans start these wars???

And just food for thought, it is flame wars that generate interest.if everybody agreed guardians of the galaxy should suck then no one would see it. If we all agreed out was the best movie ever we'd all be too bond to see some of the flaws. Fiction creates fire, and is what inspires new thoughts and ideas

I cant stand flame wars. I avoid them when possible. I try to enjoy all these films. Try. Theres a couple im not too fond of. Like three. I usually still like the ones everyone else dislikes.

There is a civil way to go about discussing and "defending" a comic that doesn't involve insulting each other. If you feel you have to resort to name calling when sharing your thoughts on a piece of art, then you are either lacking in the articulation department or you have nothing to back up your argument.

fighting over comics and movies is stupid, no matter how you try to justify it. Having intelligent discussions with others of differing opinions stimulates crwativity and new ideas, not acting like a fanboy and getting butt hurt over someone trashing your favorite comic.

Other people opinions dont bother me at all, and the trolls that feel the need to hate on a studio I can usually just ignore. But you know what I thinks the most annoying? The trolls that treat their opinion as if its a proven fact. I just cant understand whats missing in these peoples lives that they feel so driven to try so hard for something so insignificant as spreading their hate. Have some sex and alcohol. Does it for me.

@COREYxYEROC

Then go ahead and defend Howard the Duck, Fantastic Four 1/2, pre MCU Captain America movies, Spider-Man 3, TASM 2 (which "I enjoyed but still sucks") x men origins/3

I think it's hilarious how an anti-flame war post brings several fanboys in and immediately the flaming begins....this whole conversation could be taken a completely different way by those with less cleaner minds.

@wesley you are right i love comics in general and never heard of marvel v dc flame wars till i came to this site too. The idea that flame wars are healthy is bs and in my opinion gives cinema purists ammo against cbms. And pick up regular issues from both sides regularly. I love mcu and the dcu. Anything jonathan hickman and brian micheal bendis do for mcu is quite good. I love geoff johns and scott snyder for dcu, in fact i cant speak highly enough about johns or scott snyder work. Its a terrific period where studios are happy to throw 200 million to make a movie on characters like cap america, iron man or xmen these characters can be done justice and its great to live in these times. Lets all watch them and appreciate.

@tonytony....can't believe I'm saying this...but I agree. I'm also a huge fan of Scott Snyder's work. He's done a fantastic job with Batman and Superman. Johns is legendary.

I'm excited about 9 movies from DC, I just hope there's more variety and not just Batman and Superman. I mean obviously they're going to have more than those two, but I want a few stand alones without them anywhere near it lol. Let some of DC's other awesome characters have a moment in the sun.

I actually really like Aquaman and want to see him have a stand alone. Poor guy gets no love lol
