Marvelites vs. Nolanites

It has been a great year for comic book movies this year, and with that comes insane arguments about which one is better.

I have been visiting this site for about four years now, and I have been a member for about a year and a half. In all four years that I have been here, I have never seen so much ridiculous arguing until this year. On almost any article about The Avengers or The Dark Knight Rises, there is an argument about which one is better. And I have the answer about which one is better. It is which ever one you enjoyed more.

I personally liked the Dark Knight Rises more. I have seen it twice now and think it is the best movie I have ever seen. If you think differently, then good for you. If you like Avengers better, than good for you. Even if you like Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, that is ok, kinda, okay not really. Earlier today, the results for a poll were posted about which movie was better, and tdkr won by a large margin. I do think there was multiple votes, but it was ridiculous that there were tons of comments saying that nolanites are cheaters and that avengers was the best movie. Nolanites were going on that tdkr was the best movie and avengers could suck it.

Like I said earlier, it's fine that you liked the Avengers better, but don't go proclaiming it is the best movie ever. That applies to nolanites as well. Another example of this was there was an article about The Avengers making $616 million. I looked through the comments, and instead of seeing nolanites, I saw people posting comments like 'checkmate nolan' and 'get ready for nolanites' and 'tdkr copied Avengers with the atomic bomb scene'. Was there really any need for those comments.

Nolanites and Marvelites also need too stop going on about critics and box office numbers. People keeps talking about rotten tomato reviews. Well guess what, just because it has a certain percentage, it does not mean any thing. The movie Boondock Saints is considered a cult classic, yet has a 17% on rotten tomatoes. Box Office also does not determine how good a movie is. People who say that box office matter must think that Star Wars Episode I made $1,027,044,677, so is a great movie. No one should ever bring up box office with these two after the horrible shootings in Colorado.

Overall, all this nolanite vs. marvelite is bull. This was a great year for movie. Why can't we all just appreciate that we are here too see these two movies. What is yelling at someone that one movie is better than the other going too do. It is not going to make him like that movie better, its just going to make you look like a jerk. Why fight over these movies. Both the Avengers and The Dark Knight Trilogy have changed CBMs forever. Both these movies have shown that we can make intellectual cbms, or fun awesome team ups.How about we accept other people's opinions and like which ever movie you like better. So how about we stop the petty fighting, and enjoy a great year of cbms, and look forward to another great year next year.

I've seen these articles a lot. I assume what will happen now is you will get a lot of people agreeing and saying it should stop and its pathetic, and then some, or most will either start a war in this thread or go to another and have one there.

The sad thing is takes up so much room in the comments, conversations, idea etc get lost in it.

Its sad. And it will most likely happen again next year with Man of Steel and Iron Man 3

This one will die down once both are out on Blu Ray, then we will move onto Iron Man/Thor vs Superman etc.

Its just what happens on the internet and there isn't a whole lot that can be done about that, its not about changing peoples opinions or preaching, its about trying to be right, and therefore smarter, stronger, fitter, better looking, whiter teeth, more famous, more stamina in the bedroom and happier and all the other things that boost their ego.

But good article none the less, i can only hope that people will listen to you :)

I appreciate the article because you speak the truth, but the bottom line is as long as immature kids have access to the internet this will never stop.

If you have been coming to this site for 4 years then you remember the good old days before all idiotic little shits joined the site. Man I miss those days. I almost never comment anymore because of it.

Good article man and I agree 100 percent. This 'war' was just made up by a bunch of bored teenagers with nothing better to do. If they were doing it in jest then that would be fine but instead they get person and throw insults when none are needed. As a result we get pages and pages of this crap. Hell, even people like Intruder, whose a smart guy given his past editorals and occasional insightful comments, seem to buy into this BS. It's fake and pointless.

Marvellite: You are right there is nothing wrong with a bit of friendly competetion, but there is plenty wrong with throwing insults at individuals and whole groups of peoples for no good reason. If you guys just put up good arguments for your sides without getting personal it would be cool. But you guys dont do that; you just insult each other. Until you marvelite/nolanites start acting mature or at least reasonable you will look like a bunch of idiots to the rest of us.

If you thought was bad this year, then if rumors are true then the Justice League movie is gonna be release in the same year as Avengers II then you haven't seen nothing yet.

Great article, I'm sick of this war as well.

It gets old fast, no doubt. It's a shame, especially when I'm reading a thread about a particular subject and everyone has good ideas, then, BAMM!, Marvel/DC fight! So lame.

I attribute this behavior to the youngsters as well. I really hope there's no one my age on here spouting that BS. If so, I feel really bad for him/her!
@CorndogBurglar: Don't stop commenting! We need people like you. Hopefully, one day we'll outnumber the dips***s!

It all started with the Nolanites post-TDK.

But anyhow, sometimes it gets outta hand when people start making threats, but if anything, these flame wars are entertaining and funny for the most part. People take them too seriously

Great article dude I for one am tired of the "ite" bullshit it gets real tiring reading through comments full of that nonsense. I pretty much skip over reading comments from certain posters because I know i'm gonna get pissed otherwise.

I agree 100% I hate these flame wars so much, there's always an asshole marvelite on a TDKR page and a Nolanite on a TA/TASM page. It's so annoying and the worst part is there are people blaming TDKR on the shooting, and guess who those people are? They were marvelites becasue I see them on every Nolan page bashing it and praising the avengers. Also some idiot brought up how the nolanites caused the shooting...what a dumbass. I loved all 3 movies this year and I thought TDKR was the best. Hate these stupid wars and I annoys me how nolanites think every Nolan film is amazing and every marvelite think marvel studios makes the best movies and another studio that makes a marvel movie sucks and is inaccurate to the material.

Has anyone else noticed the oddity of the terms; Nolantites Vs Marvelites? I love Christopher Nolan's take on Batman, but the trilogy is over and love it or hate it, there are not going to me any more. What does it say that with his three movies, we have incited a battle between a film series of six and growing? Makes me almost miss good ol' fasion DC Vs Marvel debates....almost.
