Maybe what i am about to say in this article will make you think that i live sadly thinking that these movies are very bad and everything is awful but i think they are very fun. Maybe i even like them to much, i visit this web page everyday. This is just a quick reminder of how much i enjoy watching these movies, so everytime you think i am complaining too much, remember that i love this movies. They are made to entretain us, and that's what they do.

In two days, it will be a month since Thor: The Dark World premiere. The movie was good but it made me meditate about Marvel Studios villains. What's the problem? I personally think that they are not good enough for films. I really really like Marvel movies but maybe the villains could be better. When you leave the theatre you forget about them, especially if you are not a comic book fan. Like for example Malekith, Aldrich Killian, Obadiah Stane... You think about Marvel villains and no ne of those run into your mind.

Imagine if you travelled to the 70's or 80's and you told a kid: Do you know that in the future there will be lots of Marvel movies and there will be a studio called "Marvel Studios" that will make amazing superhero movies? The kid wouldn't think that the villains would be those who are being used right now, would he? Because they are nobody's favourites. That's what i mean, you would never chose them for movies. Nobody likes them. Lets be honest, you didn't care if Obadiah's armour was changed did you? You didn't care if Malekith's costume was changed either, right? You didn't care if Justin Hammer was young. That is what i mean.

Lets go one by one. Maybe what i am about to say will make you think that i live sadly thinking that these movies are very bad and everything is awful but i think they are very fun. Maybe i even like them to much, i visit this web page everyday. This is just a quick reminder of how much i enjoy watching these movies, so everytime you think i am complaining too much, remember that i love this movies. Plus, i don't like complaining about the things i like. They are made to entretain us, and that's what they do.

- Obadiah Stane: He was cool because he was a giant robot but nobody even remembers him (Except Marvel movies geeks like us). If you search for him in google images, the same image of Iron Monger will appear. there is only one.
- General Ross: This one is good because you would choose him but i don't know if he is considered a villain. Anyways he was portrayed good in the The Incredible Hulk film.
- Abomination: Good.
- Whiplash: He doesn't even really exist in the comics. He is like a mix of the first Crimson Dynamo and a guy called Black Lash that is one of those characters that nobody remembers from the old stories. He's a made up character.
- Justin Hammer: Nobody Remembers him.
- Red Skull: Good one.
- Arnim Zola: Nobody cares about him. He is actually a very cool villain in the comics but in the movie he was just this small scientist that was Red Skull's b*tch.
- Loki: Good
- Destroyer: Meh.
- Frost Giants: Meh. Although he they are crucial to Thor's story so i don't know what to say.
- Chitauri: No. It's not that i didn't enjoy the film or the final battle but no, i wouldn't pick them. I would have chosen the Kree, that could lead to other things like the Skrulls, MAr-Vell, Miss Marvel...
- Extremis and Aim: They messed up Aim and nobody would chose Extremis for a Marvel superhero movie.
- "Mandarin": He would have been awesome but he got screwed. He could have been the biggest terrorist of all. The one who leads the Ten Rings, the one who made Iron Man possible. He could have created the biggest army of the whole world, stealing all the nukes and being a threat to the whole world. Destroying Iron Man's house, his girlfrend, his armours, basically his entire life. But they messed him up with Aldrich Killian, a guy who nobody knows and only appears in one page of the whole Marvel Comicbook History and is not even a villain.
- Malekith: Nobody cares about him.
- Algrim the strong or Kurse: He was cool in the movie but nobody cares about him either.

Now lets go to the upcoming villains (Considering they won't be messed up like the Mandarin).
- Winter Solider: Not an actual villain.
- Alexander Pierce: Not a villain in the comics, nobody knows him and he just appears as a very secondary shield agent in an old storyline i think (That does not even involve Captain America). I wish i could highlight more "nobody knows him". He is one of those characters that appear sometimes in the comics like a very secondary character in some stories. I can't even name another character more less known. I mean, he is not even a secondary character, he more like an extra in the comics. He is an EXTRA, that's the closest word. I hope he turns out to be the red skull hiding with that name but i guess he will not.
- Crossbones: Good.
- SHIELD???: As you can see, in the trailer it clearly shows Steve Rogers fighting shield agents.
- Ronan the accusser: Good. Classic.
- Nebula, Korath, Yondu, Controller...: They are lesser known characters but the thing is, they are in a movie of lesser known superheroes so it's normal. Anyways, they look awesome.
- Ultron: Awesome.

Now with the most probable villains that will appear in other movies (Considering they won't be messed up like the Mandarin).
- Thanos: Yes.
- Dormammu: Yes.
- Baron Mordo: Yes.
- Klaw: Yes.
- Man-Ape: Yes.

Actually, if you look back to the Iron Man films, you can't find any good villain. A loved villain by the fans. That kid from the past would say: I guess that Iron Man will face villains like MODOK, Crimson Dynamo, Titanium Man, Aim, Mandarin... Probaly Iron man is the one that has the worst villains. Only if Captain America could fight a better Arnim Zola and some more classic villains like Hydr again or Baron Zemo. And more Red Skull.

Another problem is that FOX and Sony own some very cool villains like Apocalypse, Venom, Norman Osborn, Magneto, Galactus, Annihilatios, Terrax and the most important of all: Doctor Doom.

Be sure to tell me your opinion below.

i think the problem is more about how they are scripted into the story and the screen time they get. look at malekeith he got barely any screen time compared to the awesome not a villain in this movie loki. killian was ok but his motivation was crap and he got finished of by pepper so he suck cos of that.

and i think they where right not to use the kree considering if they did that would mean the Kree where working for thanos, so i was fine with the chitauri. the best villians get loads of screen time and brilliant dialague and outside of Loki and maybe the red skull none of the mcu villian have had those 2 IMO.

alexanderlykins- the author said he would have prefered the kree to have been used in the avengers rather than the chitauri which i was just saying i disagree.

Are they picking their villains WELL. not GOOD... the rest of the article is invalid after that. And honestly you didn't really say anything... You said some of them were good some wernt... I was confused.
GinjaNinja
GinjaNinja - 12/6/2013, 6:12 AM
They don't own the Kree, and the Kree would have needed more of an explenation then just aliens. Also loki was amazing, not good. saying nobody cares about *insert character here* is a joke.. I could go around and say nobody cares about just about any character and I could think I'm right. Either way I agree that a few of their characters have been weak. but you did a horrid job of telling why.

Are you seriously complaining because they used lesser know villains in their movies. Oh no, they took a character i don't care about and made them a bit more famous. How awful. Those bastards should dine in Hell.

Trying to deny the grammar Nazi in me the chance to rant at the grammar fail in the sub-title-explanation-thingy.

@TheAwesomeAvenger
Same... you wouldn't like the grammar nazi when he's angry...

The truth is, sir, you are writing for someone else. Oh your ideas, DEFINITELY, but your style is a reflection of this site. People read our editorials, believe it or not. When people write so poorly, however, they start to look elsewhere, which is why lately, you'll only see people comment on popular topics. It's kind of like an artist who isn't popular because his work is original... shifting towards fanart and becoming a big hit.

If everyone wrote this way on this site, I'm almost certain Galactus would close down the editorial section. It's not the content that bothers me, it's just the fact that there are all of these word-processing programs and applications, and you don't seem to want to use any of them. You probably posted this from your phone, didn't you? Were you waiting for a bus? On break? Waiting in the lobby for a doctor appointment? Were you just bored?

Anyway, better luck next time.

All I would say about the whole grammar thing is that I don't think this guys first language is English.

So I am prepared to give this guy a break.

I'm fine with a lot of them, Stane, Frost Giants, Red Skull. The Abomination, not a big hit with me.

But I was profoundly disappointed by the Dark Elves. There was not anything wrong with them per se, but Marvel needs to spend more time crafting villains that are more psychologically interesting and not just "army of darkness trying to destroy the universe because, hey, they're evil."

The Chitauri, though, have been the worst MCU villains, IMO. They did not even look good to me, to say nothing of being generic.

Also we only have had two sequals so far. Everyone had their first movie villain. Which are rarely ever good. Thor's was fantastic. Now for the sequals. IM2 was bad. IM3 was decent. Thor TDW Malekith was a tad boring. But did a good job with (spoiler) Killing frigga and he had a cool army. So I would say they have done pretty well so far.

The only great one is Loki. Iron Monger, Abomination and Killian were decent. The rest SUCK ASS!

@Tainted87

Very well said. Tbh perhaps I should start doing editorials on here instead of just doing Youtube videos about all this stuff I love...to ensure it reaches the intended audience :P

@Lhornbk I am not saying that they don't follow the comics, because i don't know anything about Malekith and other guys. What i am saying is that these are not the villains i would expect to see in a movie. Too secondary.

MightyZeus - 12/7/2013, 6:51 AM
I thought in my opinion almost every Marvel villain has been great so far. The only villain i was disappointed in was Killian since his motive wasnt exactly clear as to what he wanted. I thought in Thor: TDW they should have showcased Malekith a lot more same goes for Kurse but so far my favorite villains have been Iron Monger, Red Skull, Loki and The Abomination.

What villains should they use for Thor films if you didn't like Malekith. Beyond Loki, what good villains does Thor have??
