As the number of new cases of the coronavirus finally show signs of abating in China, a number of theaters have now reopened across The Middle Kingdom.

According to several different reports, over 500 cinemas across provinces such as Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Sichuan, Qinghai, Henan, Fujian and Guangdong are now back in business. However, it will still be a while before the box office sees any benefit, because a lot of people are still being cautious about venturing outside.

The first wave of movies to screen will be local offerings such as Wolf Warrior 2, American Dreams In China, The Wandering Earth and Wolf Totem, but Warner Bros. recently announced plans for a 3D 4K re-release of Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone (no date has been set). There are also rumors that Disney/Marvel could follow suit with re-releases of The Avengers movies, but that's yet to be confirmed.

We're still quite a while away from seeing this in The U.S. and Europe, of course, but it's encouraging to see China begin to come through and attempt to reestablish some sense of normality.

How have you guys been coping with the COVID-19 situation? Let us know in the comments.

This is much needed good news!! 😃😃 Everyone please just stay home, if we all follow the rules this will end quicker, plus we live in a day and age where there’s enough things to keep you occupied!

@Jayman627 - I'm telling you guys, even when theaters open up again here, nobody is going to go running back to them that quickly.

China went full lock-down, which is why their situation improved, but it could have been better handled considering they tried to cover it up at the start.

They stayed inside for 2 months to get to this point.
You want this to be over as fast as possible? Stay inside, wash your hands, don't go out unless it's absolutely necessary. Don't expect a cure to miraculously appear, prevention is the only thing we regular people can do.
Stay safe, and of course, don't be a d-bag.

I think an extra month should have been added. If this reinfects the population again it will be worse than the first time.

I still have to go to work at the moment because I work in retail and we provide a service that people need.

-Toilet rolls and kitchen towels
-medicine and tablets
-face masks
-pet food
-cleaning products

And so much more,we'll be open until the government makes the ruling that we need to shutdown.
