If "The Expendables 3" is indeed the last outing for Stallone and co then its a major low point for the series. Tired, repetitive and lacking anything that made the original so enjoyable, "The Expendables 3" is a wasted opportunity.

The 12A certificate is a major part of this decline. The violence has been toned down with the obvious aim to draw in bigger audiences but this has backfired as this is the worst performing instalment out of all 3 films. We now get strange CGI dust effects instead of blood and it all feels such a sell out. Mel Gibson is the best part of the whole experience but he seems to be acting in a far better film than he's actually in. Every action star bar Willis is in it and for some reason Kelsey Grammer. Most have very little screen time, but it's nice to have Wesley Snipes back on the big screen. However Antonio Banderas is just plain annoying in a role that was either written that way or he's just having fun with it.

Harrison Ford gives possibly the laziest performance of his whole career and who can blame him, this is a phoned in performance for a phoned in film. The potential was there, the first Expendables is a highly enjoyable throwback to the films I grew up with, it was old school, hardcore, this is targeted at the "Guardians of the Galaxy" audience. They've missed the point, the audience was already there, but by watering down our heroes they've just lost them entirely.

I have to agree with you. It was nice to see Snipes back but the movie just didn't have much of a point.
