NEW Where the Wild Things Are Pics!

While I don't think it was ever made into a comic book, Maurice Sendak's classic children's book was illustrated masterfully enough to get some time at CBM. Check out the new pics!

Looks kinda like a different kind of the Never Ending Story. Without the puppets.. More CPU involved.

As much as I totally love movies, this kinda saddens me because it makes me feel like kids wont read this book after this film is made because they might be shown this movie instead... are we replacing to many books?

i would go see this movie i still remember the books..
maybe im just in a disagreeable mood but kids still do read, check out the lines when theres a new potter book are that twilight stuff. and these books were made into movies kids still read, if anything this movie will encourage kids to go and buy the book.

I hope it has a lot of good ole' fashion Muppet action.

Kids do read, they just generally don't read anything that I find overly interesting. Potter and Twilight are OK, but certainly no His Dark Materials or Baltimore: Tin Soldier and the Vampire.

@TheShakeBake

I was just about to say something about that, the book is really short and indeed the kid and the monsters look just like the book. I'm just wondering if the begining of the movie will be the story of the book and then expand on it from there where the kid returns to the island and has a bigger adventure w/ the monsters.

It's wierd that there's a movie. The book has hardly any words, and not many pages. I think it will be awesome, but I wonder how much crap they are going to add to make a 10 minute book into a 90 minute movie.

HorrorNerd

I actually heard that after some test screenings had children crying and leaving the flick, the studio made Jonze do some re-shoots. Could be bullshit studio buzz, but I wouldn't be surprised.

A couple of things aimed towards a bunch of you...

1) those who are upset about books being turned into movies or if kids see this they won't read the book? IT WAS 10 PAGES OF ART WITH 5 SENTENCES (as awsome as it was)

2) MORE CPU!?!?!? one of the reasons the orginal star wars films kicked so much more ass than A) the 'remakes' and B) the new 3 episodes is because you knew what you were seeing on the screen was really there. it was real (so to speak)

with all that said i think this movie will ROCK!
Osiris
Osiris - 3/23/2009, 5:46 PM
Earlier today i had remembered this as a short book too, but then i got on amazon to get it for my daughters birthday this month because i used to love it as a kid well turns out it's not that short there are not 10 not 12 but 48 pages, that's actually not very short at all for a kids book Dr. Seuss books are about that long and they have been making movies based on some of his stuff for awhile now.

looks amazing and as some one who has a 3 year old he will not be seeing this down the road until after he reads the book.the reason kids today dont read enough is because parents would rather just sit their kid in front of a t.v. and let that do their job for them

Hey Ror is "The Road" an adaptation of Kerouac's "On The Road"?

SpideyWidey, The Road is a post-apocalyptic novel by Cormac McCarthy, the same guy who wrote No Country For Old Men. It's going to star Viggo Mortenson.

Ror, do you know when that movie's finally comin out? it was an interesting read...
