Note: I would post pictures but it's currently not up for whatever reason.
Anywho, the reason why I chose not to include Kick-Ass 2 is simply because I didn't know where to place it on this list. Anyways, this is going from worst to best as previously stated and before you guys go bashing me and this list due to how I was in the past, this is a fairly chosen and I'm sure that some will agree with me and some won't. Either way, this is my opinion and you can list yours in the comments once done. Let's get this started shall we?
4: Man of Steel
This is where I said to not bash me over simply because I'm fairly known on this site to have negative feelings towards DC. While yes, I'm not a fan of most things DC related. I do like the original Superman film and Superman Returns. I have yet to see Superman 2. So, why is Man of Steel at number four. It's quite simple and I've stated this in many comments on this site. Despite very impressive visuals from the always visually reliable Zack Snyder. This film is very generic in the alien invasion stories that have come before it but in the Superman world, okay acting and very little to no character development. It's style over substance and because of that, none of the emotional beats ever hit. It's not in the worst of DC's films but not among the best from DC let alone comic book films in general. If you loved this film then by all means, I'm happy for you. I just don't see the hype in it. This is an enjoyable film for what it is but, I'm going to wait for this to hit five dollars unless someone gets it for me for Christmas next month.
3: Iron Man 3
Very excited I was for Phase Two as I still am. I really like Iron Man 3. Here's what killed it from being in the top two. Despite a solid story, solid acting, an entertaining twist and amazing and exhilarating action sequences. The film suffers from too much humor. It really took me out of the film at times and became forced after a while. It's not a strong entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but it's not the weakest link either. Improvement over Iron Man 3 and it being completely stand alone and not leading into any of the upcoming films makes complete sense. I just can't get past the humor on this one.
2: The Wolverine
Honestly, after seeing this film. I was all ready to put it at number one. This movie is absolutely fantastic with strong performances, an engaging story and edge of your seat action. This film had it all and is the perfect Wolverine movie. There's one problem I had with this film though. The minute the Silver Samurai robot had the guys head (I can't remember the characters name) appear and it is his new body, it just took me out of it completely and the sense of threat just disappeared. Where Man of Steel pulled a John Elway in the fourth quarter after the final battle with a clever line from Amy Adams, this film missed the game winning field goal during the seconds and lost it. Overall it's fantastic but, the final battle eventually just took me out of the film.
Okay folks, there is only one left. What could it be? Well, it's pretty obvious.
1: Thor: The Dark World
Despite the very weak, one note, uninteresting villain in Malekith. This film is amazing. I loved the first Thor and I'm glad there was a balance in time between the realms. Especially the scenes on Asgard, it really felt like a Thor film. I loved the first film, I never understood the hate it got outside of the Thor/Jane Foster relationship. It gets a little bit more development in the film but not as much as one would hope. I was actually hoping she would live and I'm glad she did. This film found the right balance in my opinion of seriousness, emotion, edge of your seat action and humor. I didn't have much sadness when Frigga died but, when Loki "died" I was in total shock and sadness still despite knowing ahead of time. This helped due to the convincing performances of the actors and in particular, the engaging and interesting sibling relationship between Thor and Loki. Some had a problem with the slow build but, I didn't. I was completely engaged from the minute the new Marvel Studios logo popped up on the screen and the film began with an epic battle between Asgardians and the Dark Elves. To make things better, the mid credit scene (keep in mind, I never shout in the theater) had me so excited I literally yelled in the theater "yeah! F**k yeah!".
Well, this is all just me and my opinion. What are your guys' thoughts on these films? Do you agree that Phase Two is off to a great start or no?Comment below.
Also, for those of you who may want my opinion on Kick-Ass 2. I really enjoyed it but, it's not as good as the first despite it being a funnier film.
