This year's WrestleMania takes place in Hollywood on Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2, and even if you're not a pro wrestling fan, we're sure you'll be familiar with the iconic event. Now, WWE is once again parodying some of the greatest movies ever made to build excitement for the Show of Shows.
Back in 2005, icons like John Cena, Triple H, Dave Bautista, and Stone Cold Steve Austin all took part in spoofs that hyped up the fact WWE was coming to Hollywood.
The first of this new batch of commercials was revealed during the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event (via TheRingReport.com) and it's inspired by one of the greatest comic book movies ever made: 2019's Joker.
Joker revolved around the iconic arch-nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. The exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, was not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
WWE enlisted Seth Rollins to take on the role of The Joker, while his real-life wife and "The Man" herself shows up as a unique version of Batman.
No one here is going to be winning acting awards, but it's all in good fun, and those of you who are pro wrestling and comic book fans are sure to get a kick out of this. Other planned Hollywood parodies from WWE expected to head our way include Top Gun, Stranger Things, and Goodfellas. Needless to say, we'll have those for you the second they drop.
Rollins will likely square off with Logan Paul in one of the biggest matches at this year's WrestleMania, though plans for Lynch aren't as clear. She's been feuding with Bayley, and both women lost out on the chance to compete in the Elimination Chamber during Monday night's episode of RAW.
