Following an intriguing announcement teaser and a batch of official images, fans of Ridley Scott's sci-fi masterpiece, Blade Runner, have been eagerly anticipating a full trailer for the upcoming sequel.

Now, Scott has confirmed that the new trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 will screen in front of Alien: Covenant, which goes on general release on May 19. There's a very good chance it'll be online before then, however.

In anticipation, the movie's Twitter account has debuted a new image, featuring Ryan Gosling's replicant hunter, K, and the mysterious character played by Ana de Armas.

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard, a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Dennis is the absolute best. Enemy, Prisoners, Sicario, Arrival. They're all so good!

Also, let's get Deakins an Oscar already, geez!

@SmellofDuty - Deakins HAS to get an Oscar... it's long overdue. I'd add Incendies to that list, great film. Villeneuve hasn't put a foot wrong yet.

I am intrigued enough with Blade Runner 2049, with it's good cast and fantastic Director.
Should be a good movie, and continues to show the range of Gosling as a Leading man.
Also he knows how to rock a suit.

Also can someone entice Gosling with a comic movie Role?
I remember reading he only wanted to do one movie, so could be an issue.
