Back in February, news broke that Jennifer Lawrence would be taking a break from the big screen to star in Adam McKay's new Netflix comedy, and now Deadline has revealed the project's seriously impressive supporting cast.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Himesh Patel, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Matthew Perry and Tomer Sisley have all signed on star in Don't Look Up.
Lawrence (X-Men: First Class, The Hunger Games) will take the lead in a sci-fi satire, which tells the story of two low-level astronomers who must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching asteroid that will destroy Earth. McKay wrote the movie and will produce under his Hyperobject Industries banner with Kevin Messick, and it's now been confirmed that he'll also direct.
Apparently, most of the cast have been loosely attached for quite a while, but DiCaprio wasn't sure he'd be able to commit when he still had Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon on his schedule.
Production was originally set to commence in April, but that obviously never came to pass thanks to our old friend COVID. No word on when filming will get underway, but with this cast we'll be paying very close attention to Don't Look Up's status.
