Godzilla vs. Kong is almost guaranteed to be epic as two of cinema's most iconic monsters finally clash on the big screen in an era with state of the art special effects on hand. Adam Wingard will be at the helm of the film and in a new interview, the filmmaker has shed some light on what he has planned.

"I really want you to take those characters seriously," he says of the way he plans on approaching this sure to be memorable clash. "I want you to be emotionally invested, not just in the human characters, but actually in the monsters. If I had my way, I want people to really be teary-eyed at the end of the movie, and be that invested in to what’s going on." So, a melodramatic monster movie?

Not quite. Wingard went on to explain that he has big things planned for Godzilla vs. Kong and it sounds like it will be more than just those two coming to blows (they're totally gonna team up to take on an even greater threat near the end, right?). "It’s a massive monster brawl movie.
There’s lots of monsters going crazy on each other, but at the end of the day I want there to be an emotional drive to it. I want you to be emotionally invested in them. I think that’s what’s going to make it cool."

Godzilla vs. Kong is definitely shaping up to be something special and Wingard seems to be saying all the right things. What are you guys most excited to see from the movie? Sound off down below.

It seems the monster fights in these movies are some of the best we've ever seen, but they completely [frick] up the humans.

In Godzilla, the humans were very bland besides Cranston, and all the writing involving Johnson was so convent that it came off as moronic.

The humans in King are so bad that I can't even watch the movie, they are like cartoon characters. But I've seen a few of the fights, and they were amazing. So, I'm sure this will have awesome fights, but if they want to make a great movie, they need to at least do a decent job with the humans. I wouldn't mind if it was like, 90% monsters, if they can't make interesting humans, but that would be too expensive.
