Legendary Pictures Has Acquired The Film And Television Rights To Frank Herbert’s DUNE
Some good news for fans of Frank Herbert's classic novel here, as it looks like we might be getting a new movie or TV series (or both?) based on his sprawling sci-fi epic, Dune. Click on for more...
Deadline is reporting that Legendary has acquired the film and TV rights to Frank Herbert's Dune, which of course means there's a very good chance the studio is planning a new adaptation of the sci-fi classic at some point in the future. There's no mention of what those plans might entail, just that "any project will be produced by Thomas Tull, Mary Parent and Cale Boyter, with Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert serving as executive producers."
There have been several different adaptions of Dune, the most famous (or infamous depending on your perspective) is David Lynch's ambitious but flawed 1984 movie starring Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Kyle MacLachlan.
We'll update once we know more, but for now be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.
