A couple of images from the set of Steven S. DeKnight's Pacific Rim: Maelstrom have found their way online, and they give us a first look at the character played by Star Wars: The Force Awakens' actorJohn Boyega. We still don't have a first name for this chap, but we know that he's the son of Idris Elba's character from the first film, so it's a fairly safe bet he'll also be hotshot Jaeger pilot.

In related news, Variety reports that Chinese action film star Zhang Jin has joined the cast of the movie, which also includes Scott Eastwood, Ron Perlman, Tian Jing, Max Martini and Nick Taraby.

Prepare for another round of mechs VS. monsters when Pacific Rim: Maelstrom hits theaters on February 23, 2018.
