BOX OFFICE: ROGUE ONE Dominates Christmas Weekend As PASSENGERS And ASSASSIN'S CREED Struggle
Analysts expected Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to stay on top over the course of its second weekend, but the film has left its competition in the (star)dust by an impressively wide margin...
The latest box office figures are in, and it looks like they've been having a very merry Christmas in the galaxy far, far away. Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story continues to dominate, and is expected to close out its second weekend with nearly $140 million over the six-day holiday, taking in over $80 million over Christmas Sunday and Stephen's Day alone.
This would put the Star Wars prequel at a grand total of $330 million after two weeks on release. Impressive. Most impressive.

Illumination Entertainment and Universal’s animated flick Sing is also performing pretty well, but the same can't be said for sci-fi romance, Passengers (estimated $27 million after six-day totals), and the Assassin's Creed adaptation($22-$23 million). The negative reviews for both may have played a part, but for whatever reason these films just haven't managed to draw the crowds their respective studios will have anticipated.
Do you guys plan to visit the theater over the weekend? If so, what will you be seeing?
