GAME OF THRONES Showrunners Will Start Shooting Their STAR WARS Movie This Fall & It May Be Based On KOTOR

It sounds like David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will start shooting their Star Wars movie this fall, and it may end up being loosely based on the popular Knights of the Old Republic video game. Check it out!

With Game of Thrones wrapping up this year, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are making the leap from the Seven Kingdoms to a Galaxy Far, Far Away. Now, a new report claims that the movie will start shooting as soon as this Fall.

That was to be expected as Disney won't want to leave the Star Wars franchise out of theaters for too long after Episode IX wraps up the Skywalker Saga. However, what's really interesting is the fact that Lucasfilm and the directors are looking to the Knights of the Old Republic video game for inspiration.

The movie (which may be the first in a new trilogy) will reportedly take place in the Old Republic as "Disney wants to open up the Star Wars timeline and appeal to a more Game of Thrones style audience."

This would be a smart move on the studio's part as it means we get to visit a whole new era with characters we haven't met before (it would feel incredibly forced if one of them was a "Kenobi" or "Skywalker," that's for sure). It's possible that more details on the project will be revealed at Star Wars Celebration but Episode IX is expected to be the focus there.

Are you intrigued by a Star Wars movie set in the Old Republic? Sound off below.

Doesn't matter at this point for me. This VERSION of the old republic can be solid gold, but it still leads to Disney canon. No thanks. Make the same exact movie but set in the EU and I'm all in.

I have no interest in what happens thousands of years before episode 8.

Let’s hope Kathleen Kennedy’s influence is no where near this. Avoid SJW politics and you might get my interest.

A Game of Thrones-esque Star Wars film set during the Old Republic is a dream come true movie for me... so I’m doubtful this is true coming from Kathleen and Disney.

Hopefully it’s true though
