Ever since the
Han Solo anthology film was announced back in 2015, fans wondered and speculated about the possibility of Lucasfilm trying to squeeze in a Darth Vader appearance. The film is set before the events of the original 1977 film (
A New Hope), so Vader is most certainly around. Even so, what role could he possibly have in a film about a young Han Solo?
Well, Disney and Lucasfilm might have found a way to throw the iconic villain into the smuggler's story. Maybe.
According to a report by
Jedi News,
Spencer Wilding (the man under the mask of Darth Vader in
Rogue One) was scheduled to appear at Fandom Fest in Kentucky. However, the 45-year old actor was forced to cancel due to the filming of the latest Star Wars movie. The event's website left the following message:
Spencer Wilding will be unable to attend as he will be filming the newest film in the Star Wars Universe. Spencer will be coming back next year.
The only Star Wars movie that is currently filming is
Han Solo, making it the lone candidate for the film the website mentioned. Spencer's casting in Han Solo doesn't necessarily guarantee that he will portray Darth Vader again, though - in fact, many believe that Wilding will play an entirely different character.
In other news, director Ron Howard revealed that
Warwick Davis has also joined the cast of Han Solo. Check out his tweet below.
